What made you happy recently? Or is there anything that you are looking forward to?

Asked by Mimishu1995 (23802points) 1 month ago

I know most of us are not feeling well right now. So I made this thread as a place for us to have something positive to think about.

I myself am not feeling well either, so I want to read about your positive experience to heighten my mood a little.

And please no politics. I want this to be a positive space where we can gather and have some fun.

I’ll start first. My felt fabrics arrived recently so I’m ready to make two new dolls for myself and my friend. I have also done with a drawing and three friends that I showed it to all said it’s cute. I’m also excited for a performance I will do at a party this month.

I’m refinishing a piece of furniture (a small table with two drawers and two doors) and I’m looking forward to the staining and painting of it. I’m also refinishing a child’s chair. I sanded both the chair and the table, and next I have to purchase the paint.

@jca2 wow, did you do that all by yourself? I didn’t know you can do things like that. Is that for your family?

@Mimishu1995 Yes, I don’t sell it. I also do decoupage, refinishing small things. It’s a hobby. My mom did it too, so maybe it’s in my genes.

Knowing that I won’t live very far into Trump’s presidency, but I feel for those who will.

My daughter and granddaughter (7 months) came to visit for two weeks. I was hoping she would start crawling and she came very close before they left. We had a great time.

It’s still NFL season, and the NBA season just cranked up.

I just passed the 2 year anniversary of my liver transplant. Time flies.
I think I’m doing great, for someone who was supposed to die in 2020…
And I still haven’t drank, or started smoking cigarettes, since my diagnosis in ‘20.

I look forward, to better times, for ALL. We could really use some peace, love, and understanding…

@flutherother I love how babies rock back and forth on their hands and knees like they’re winding up for it!

Went dancing last night with friends. I do that about once a week.

Past Sunday went shopping with my husband to a new shopping center (new for us) and it was great, I bought a few things and had lunch together.

Just over a week ago met up with friends at Disney World. We spent five hours with them seeing shows. It was a good day. The best part was it was the first time we spent a lot of time with them and we really liked them.

A month ago I went to my cousin’s wedding.

Medical marijuana was passed in Nebraska. I hope it helps the pain I’ve had for years.

@MrGrimm888 I’m glad you are still here with us. You defiled expectation and went on to have a great life. I hope you will continue like this for the years to come.

@JLeslie you did more positive things than me actually. All I did yesterday was working and cowering in my bed depressed. I have decided to limit my time on social media because I don’t think I can stay calm looking at all the posts about the election.

Nine months ago I started a new job as a night-time hospital transporter. I move patients to and fro. To tests, from tests, between rooms, between departments, etc. I work a lot in the emergency department with everything from imaginary afflictions to minor pains to gunshots and victims of terrible auto accidents. I take mothers to the birth center to deliver babies and I take the dead to the morgue.

I am helping people in their worst and best moments. I hold hands, I joke, I empathize, I listen, I soothe. It’s a wonderful job. I feel lucky every day I work in the hospital.

^I’ve had about a million transporters, in the past 5 years dealing with my liver transplant.
No joke, those people are good for the overall healing process.
When you’re always in a hospital bed, you have little social interaction.
I used to talk a lot, to the people wheeling me here and there.
The person transporting you, can help distract you a bit, and help me live vicariously through them, in a way. They all have a story, and as they are stuck with me, I interview them. It’s nice to hear that other people are doing well, or just have a good attitude about life anyways.
After my surgery, I made sure to try and thank EVERYONE that I had been “working” with, from receptionists to surgeons. I know the cleaning staff at the hospital I usually go to. They know me too, from repeat stays in the hospital.
But. You are doing a great thing, and have the opportunity to help the patient with their moral.
The hardest part of slowly dying, almost dying, or just being treated for stuff is the mental part.
If you’re battling every day for your life, every little thing keeps wind in your sails. In fact, the little things matter the most.
Thank you, for what you do.

(Wash your hands, a LOT.)

@Mimishu1995 If I remember correctly you live in Vietnam. Don’t answer if you rather not talk about it, but I’m curious what are the concerns of the Vietnamese people and yourself regarding Trump becoming the US president again?

We have a CBD dispensary down the block and I walked down there today to find something to help my anxiety. My BP has been extremely high the past two days and I was on the verge of an anxiety attack or worse. The owner knows me and he gave me a great deal with his personal stash and threw in a package of new calming gummies. I’ve never felt more relaxed. He saved my day.

I just made 9 mini extra blueberry bisquick scones. Was delicious. Ate them all.

Also I purchased some mini grape tomatoes, and golden kiwis. Both are delicious.

I am looking forward to reading two books on my wishlist. Math Therapy by Vanessa v. , and The book the ultimate guide to rebuilding a civilization.

Both books are out of my budget right now.
