I think Kristi Noem’s ability to shoot her own puppy instead of training it properly speaks to a psychopathic ruthlessness and blood lust that should serve her well in the absolutely brutal commute in DC to her office of the DHS.

Caravanfan's avatar

@gorillapaws Right? That was so brave her to shoot her own puppy, don’t you think?

gorillapaws's avatar

@Caravanfan Bullets are cheap, and training takes work. You can always just get a new one.

jca2's avatar

I’m not sure which one is a bigger joke/disaster in the making, Noem or Gaetz. Ironically, both have a silent “e” in their names.

Caravanfan's avatar

@gorillapaws Right. Keep shooting the puppies until you get one that behaves. Makes total sense.

Caravanfan's avatar

@jca2 No, not a joke. Noem shoots puppies, so she’s perfect for DHS. That way she can shoot immigrants who don’t behave properly just like she shoots puppies. And Gaetz? He went to law school, so he’s totally qualified. He was barred from practicing in his own state, but that was reversed once he paid his fees. So that’s okay.

jca2's avatar

I told my daughter the bad thing is we have to look at these assholes for the next four years.

Zaku's avatar

For me I think it’s Mr. FOX ‘n’ Friends for Secretary of Defense. A great “Putin Pick”.

Gaetz the accused sex trafficker and paedophile for DA is up there too.

@gorillapaws “Bullets are cheap, and training takes work. You can always just get a new one.”
– Just like illegals?

Caravanfan's avatar

@Zaku I totally agree on Pete Hegseth. After all, white straight manly-men should be the only people serving in the military, don’t you think? And who doesn’t like his chisled jaw? I mean I’m not even gay and I’d do him.

seawulf575's avatar

I like Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence.

Blackwater_Park's avatar

How many of these people do you think will still be in these positions after six months?

smudges's avatar

I was discouraged to hear that Lee Zeldin has been appointed head of the EPA. Here’s a brief summary of his background:

*Zeldin voted against Biden’s climate change law
*Opposed NY goal to ban gasoline-powered cars by 2035
*In Congress, Zeldin backed environmental bills 14% of the time

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-taps-ex-congressman-zeldin-run-environmental-protection-agency-2024-11-11/

Tropical_Willie's avatar

All of the choices Trump made will do whatever he wants them to do including throwing out all of his cases, shoot the immigrants, give Putin whatever secrets he asks for . . . .

Caravanfan's avatar

@seawulf575 Tulsi Gabbard is perfect for the role. That way the Russians can just ask her for stuff instead of risking all those foreign agents.

chyna's avatar

Gaetz was a great choice! Sexual predators seem to stick together.

Caravanfan's avatar

Lee Zeldin for the environmental production agency instead of the protection agency. He wants to produce more out of the environment. Just change the “P” and it’s perfect

seawulf575's avatar

@smudges I always wonder why people support or oppose bills. I know it isn’t uncommon to bury things in a bill that aren’t part of it or there are parts that just don’t seem like something you want to support. I always come back to that “immigration bill Trump told the republicans to oppose” that we heard so much about during the campaigns. I read that bill. The majority of that bill had nothing to do with immigration. It was funding for Ukraine and funding for Israel and, oh yeah, they threw in some immigration stuff too. And the stuff they had on immigration wasn’t geared towards stopping illegal entry into the country. They would say it added x number of Border Patrol personnel but failed to say they were all administrative positions that were geared towards streamlining letting people enter illegally. It was a horrible bill.

I don’t know the bills you referenced but I can see potentials in them that would make me want to vote against them. For example: NY banning gasoline powered cars by 2035 could be extremely problematic for the citizens. It gets cold in NY…very cold. EVs don’t work well in the cold. To set a mandate that will ban gasoline cars would force people to buy EVs that wouldn’t necessarily meet their needs. It almost sounds like they wanted to set a mandate and then deal with any problems with that mandate later, after it has already impacted people. To me, the devil is in the details.

@Caravanfan “Tulsi Gabbard is perfect for the role. That way the Russians can just ask her for stuff instead of risking all those foreign agents.” Isn’t that what they did with Hillary when they helped write the Steele Dossier?

Caravanfan's avatar

Another straw man! Excellent choice of argument! You’re really good at that!

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Tell us @seawulf575, how happy you will be if the GOP implements Project 2025 ?

Forever_Free's avatar

They are all laughable. I just can’t wait to see who he “You’re Fired” first.

They are all going to get a free education on how Washington really works.

smudges's avatar

@seawulf575 I would imagine that in the next 10 years EVs will have improved in leaps and bounds.

seawulf575's avatar

@smudges They may. But that technology isn’t there yet. Batteries have had problems in cold temperatures for as long as they have existed. It is inherent in the way batteries work. They convert chemical energy to electrical energy. As temperatures drop, the chemical reactions slow down, internal resistance goes up, capacity goes down, charging rates go way up, etc. It is physics. For batteries in EVs to be able to overcome the challenge of cold weather, they will either need to develop a brand new battery that is impervious to temperature changes or they need to come up with some “coping method” that safely insulates the batteries to negate the temperature change. BTW, hot weather is bad also, for slightly different reasons, but in NY the cold would be a bigger issue.

And because it is such an unusual issue and, as far as I know, no one is working on a new type of battery, to put a mandate in place on the “hope” that technology will be perfected by then is irresponsible.

Oh, and the fact that RFK, Jr. has a brainworm and has mental issues is very exciting!

Demosthenes's avatar

I’m just looking forward to following the Matt Gaetz saga. I want to hear more about his secret son. Somehow I predict him lasting the least amount of time out of all these colorful characters.

jca2's avatar

I was watching a news show and they were saying that the Department of Health and Human Services is so large and complex, it oversees Medicaid, Medicare, so many important things, and RFK has no experience with any of it, it has potential to be a disaster.

MrGrimm888's avatar

Hard to pick a favorite. They’re all “fine people.”

MrGrimm888's avatar

Watching some of the Republican’s reactions to Trump’s choices, is actually quite entertaining.

This is the part that would be SO much funnier, if I didn’t live here.
It was funny (at first,) last time.

I’m trying to laugh it off.
I know most of these idiots will not be in DC long…

gorillapaws's avatar

I’m still waiting for Trump to nominate Dr. Dre as the Surgeon General.

Irukandji's avatar

@gorillapaws Good call. All of these clearly great choices, and motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre!

ragingloli's avatar

Choosing the paedophile sex trafficker to run the DoJ is certainly a choice.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Apparently some Senate members are of the opinion that the GOP Senate members should / must “rubber stamp” some of the Trump cabinet appointees.

Sounds like Germany 90 years ago.

@Tropical_Willie
A next-to-makes-no-difference open rejection of the separation of powers. Does not matter that congress gets elected, too. no, only the orangutan has the right to make decisions now. “checks and balances” is now purely performative.

Caravanfan's avatar

Oh good! RFK Jr was nominated for HHS secretary. As a child killer he’s totally qualified!

Dutchess_III's avatar

I think they’ll last until trump has an ephinay and realizes what nobody else realizes that they are totally unqualified for their positions and only he can save America from them.
“You’re fired!”

ragingloli's avatar

@Dutchess_III
The only thing that will make him fire any of them is disloyalty. That is the only property that he values in people.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Putin got his money’s worth.

He must be laughing his “vodka butt” off, because of Trump’s choices of incompetent and unqualified people.

MrGrimm888's avatar

It’s difficult, to be optimistic about much.
RFK, may help the country with our ultra-processed food.
But I don’t even want to think of ANY of these people, in SO far over their head, making decisions about such important matters…

So far, I’ve just been grabbing my ankles, and trying to enjoy our new “leader.”...But, it’s not easy.

chyna's avatar

Hegseth has paid off a woman that accused him of sexual assault. Seems like a good choice.

ragingloli's avatar

@chyna as expected from the “family values” party and the rapist-in-chief.

gorillapaws's avatar

I heard Chef Boyardee is his first pick for presidential chef because the Hamburgler kept running off with his Big Macs. On the bright side, that can’t be great for his cardiovascular health.

MrGrimm888's avatar

I read that Hegseth was removed, from a detail that was supposed to help protect Biden.
A fellow soldier noticed a tattoo on his right bicep, that represents white supremacy.
So. He was removed, alledgedly, for that reason.

The article went on to say, Hegseth had proclaimed that he was being falsely persecuted for being Christian, because he has a cross tattoo on his chest.
He was instead removed, as a potential “insider threat.”

The tattoo alledgedly says, Dues Vult.

jca2's avatar

Today (Tuesday 11.19), I just read that Trump chose Dr. Oz to head up Medicare and Medicaid. Are you f*ing kidding me? it’s really like a joke.

MrGrimm888's avatar

^You thought that a POTUS whose only moderate success was as a reality TV personality, wouldn’t appoint more people from TV?

When the conservatives start getting cancer, getting poisoned and dying from preventable diseases and conditions, I hope they can pray their way out of it…
