Will Matt Gaetz return to Congress in January?

Asked by filmfann (52515points) 1 month ago

He resigned today, but he was also re-elected.
If he fails to be sworn in as Attorney General (as appointed by Trump), could he reclaim his seat in Congress?

I gave this a GQ because I was thinking the same thing last night – what if he doesn’t make the confirmation?

What is very annoying is that he’s a total asshole and I don’t want to have to look at his face for the next four years. I wish he’d go crawl into a hole in Florida and stay there.

nice tags.

He will not be sworn in in January and his resignation letter said as such. Here is an article that may provide more context (although all “experts” interviewed refused to be named in the article): https://floridapolitics.com/archives/707728-with-matt-gaetz-tapped-for-ag-who-could-fill-his-congressional-seat/

No, because he was being investigated for crimes against underage females and drugs. When he resigned his position, the investigation stopped.

^It’s funny how, when you hire someone to investigate themselves, they halt the investigating.

Florida folks: why do you keep reelecting this guy?

He looks like a freak with his tweezed eyebrows.

^I always thought he had Jack Nicholson in “The Shinning” eyes.
It’s the eyebrows and temples.
He sort of has a devilish look…

He is simply a sleaze. An ugly version of Jeffrey Epstein.
I hope he ends up living under a bridge where all trolls belong.

I say this with the kindest of wishes.

I just read that he will not be returning to Congress. This is good. Maybe we no longer will have to see his weird face and weird eyebrows.

Gaetz could be appointed to the empty Senate seat (Marco Rubio) by DeSantis.
