Is it bad to store raw meats in the same fridge as cooked meats?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24986points) 1 month ago

I have some sealed pork ribs both cooked and uncooked in separate containers. Two racks are, unopened, in the store wrap, and the cooked slices are in ziploc bags.

Chef Ramsay says no on his shows but doesn’t answer why?

Is it OK to store my pork ribs In this manner?

No problem with that, but never store raw and cooked meat, eggs or fish in the same container.

Or raw on open grate racks above cooked or ready to serve fruits and veggies !

Put the raw in the freezer and eat the cooked ones.

Theres different rules for commercial kitchens to your home. In your home you can pretty much do what ever you want and the only person it’ll effect is you. In a comercial kitchen its considered bad form to poison your customers.
