If you were Native American, how would you reply to someone who said, "Why don’t you go back to where you came from?"?
Here’s the report.
“KENDRICK, Idaho (AP) — Tensions rose during a bipartisan forum this week after an audience question about discrimination reportedly led an Idaho state senator to angrily tell a Native American candidate to ‘go back where you came from.’”
If you’re not a descendant of someone who crossed the Bering land bridge during the last Ice Age, how would you respond?

I’d probably say something like “you’re showing your ignorance.”
I’d ask him if still beats his wife.
I’d say I AM where I came from.
“If there was a god, he would have sank all your ships as they crossed the Atlantic.”
I’d say “why don’t you go back to where you came from, paleface?”
If I were born in the state, I’d say “I’m here. This is where I came from”. The statement was an ignorant one to be made.
I’ve heard of a lot of issues between the government and native Americans in the Dakotas.
I thought I heard that Noem, was not even allowed onto the reservations in her state.
I don’t know, what the exact reason is. I could guess.
I watched a few seasons of “Yellowstone,” so I feel like I’m well informed about the area…
@MrGrimm888 This event happened in Idaho. The Dakotas are on the other side of Montana and Wyoming from Idaho. The Native American was of the Nez Perce tribe that was from the Columbia River area which is the far western part of the state of Idaho and into Washington/Oregon border. Yellowstone is mainly in Wyoming.
@seawulf575….racists are stupid. Would any of them understand the differences between Indian nations? No. No more than they can comprehend the differences between Mexico City and Naucalpan de Juárez.
Wulf. I almost got to season 5. In Texas, that makes me qualified to teach geography, and anthropology.
As a self proclaimed expert, trust me, I know all about it.~
I must be very lucky. The only question I got from a stranger is “What tribe are you”.
One of my students used this line last week with a biracial classmate and got 3 days suspension. Too bad we don’t hold politicians to the same standards as our kids.
@Dutchess_III Yes, a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, on my mother’s side.
Generally speaking I’d just say:
“I’m American Indian. Where do you think I came from?”
But if I was in the specific scenario that occurred recently, I’d say :
“Senator Foreman… you supported a candidate for President who tried to overthrow our country via court filings and election lies. You took an oath to obey the Constitution, and you continue to violate it, by supporting such a man.
You are not American. You are not a Patriot. You are not a Christian.
You are just a parasite upon humanity, upon America, and upon this legislature.
If you had any honor left after what you did, you’d kill yourself in shame. There is no valid reason for your existence at all. None.”
It’s gotten crazy Kraigmo!
