I often wake up with a song in mind or on tongue for some reason. This morning it was Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” for some obscure reason.
Does this happen to you? What songs come to mind?

I didn’t have one this morning; they usually don’t show up until I’ve read my email. Do other people have songs/partial songs that stay in their heads for days? Literally days? I sure do! Sometimes I purposely begin singing a different song just to get rid of the repeating one.
^^ Yup, it’s called an earworm.
Hallelujah is a helluva start! Mostly I wake up to a dog licking my foot. Not sure what tunes go with that…
Oh crap it’s cold! No, wait. That’s not a song. But it was what I said over and over.
I woke up singing the alphabet song. I stopped when I got up to P.
Firecracker by Mass Production. You might recognize the riff which was sampled on “Me So Horny” by 2 Live Crew.
I played this song a few months ago (Firecracker) and yesterday, I was playing another song on YouTube and when that song ended, the site automatically started playing Firecracker. Today, I woke up with it in my head.
Here it is. It’s a throwback to the 1970s and if you know the 2 Live Crew song, you’ll recognize it in Firecracker:

@janbb I knew it was called an earworm. I was wondering if others have the same song for days in a row. Curious about length of time.
In the Land of Grey and Pink by Caravan.
No one sings when they wake up.
@smudges I had three weeks of Miley Cyrus “Flowers” until I was ready to slit my own throat. :-)
None in the last 2 days.
I’ve been practicing 2 lines from “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?”:
“It’s enough for this restless warrior, just to be with you. And can you feel the love tonight?”
So maybe that one recently.
I think the only time I had an earworm was March, 1967.
The lyrics “No no, don’t ask why” kept repeating in my head.
I figured that once I could identify the tune, they would go away.
When I realized the song was “Whiskey Bar”, by the Doorks, the lyrics disappeared.
@smudges
“Sometimes I purposely begin singing a different song just to get rid of the repeating one.”
Does that usually work?
Edit: The lyrics are actually “Oh don’t ask why”,
