How are you feeling this holiday season?

Asked by jca2 (16872points) 1 day ago

Are you happy, warm and fuzzy, looking forward to the holiday and festivities? Are you not into it? Do you enjoy holiday events, seeing friends and family, or do you wish to avoid it?

Of course, if you don’t feel like sharing, please scroll past.

I’m shopping less for gifts due to not exchanging gifts with most people. I often wish I planned ahead to do crafts, and this year I just didn’t feel like doing crafts at all, so I didn’t. My daughter is in her last year of Girl Scouts, which she was never into but this year, I have a kind of sad feeling because the GS holiday stuff she attends will be the last. I’m glad about the holidays coming, though. We’re seeing a few plays and attending some local, low key parties.

I want to love it, I usually do, but this December I am beset with all sorts of weird, major, expensive, problems that need to be handled.

I hope you guys have fun, and not so much stress!

I’m very down about the state of the country so that has an impact on my feelings for the season. I also have simplified what I do as regards presents and cards for people and try not to get caught up in holiday francticness. Since all my kids live far away, any presents are sent far in advance and usually through Amazon as posting is way too expensive. I do have some nice new personal stuff going on so that is good.

Got out of the hospital 7 days ago after having my 5th heart ablation in 16 years (4 heart catheter ablations and one mini-maze). All to keep my heart beating normally (and stop arrhythmias like a-fib and a-flutter). Heart is pumping normally now. Feeling terrific. Wife said I have more color in my face. Been feeling better every day.

So thankful to have an expert team of cardiologists and electro physiologists that have the skills and desire to help me. Lucky to have great health insurance.

Looking forward to my canoe club’s Christmas party this Saturday. Sent about 30 Christmas cards. Put up Christmas lights outside on the garage and around the front door. Put up a small Christmas tree. Rapped several Christmas presents.

Good health!
Merry Christmas!!!

In general, not sure yet. So far it’s a mix of sadness, bewilderment and confusion. But at the end of each day a sense of gratitude.

One recent idea we had was to travel to NYC to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center just over the weekend but the hotel rates were too high.

@mazingerz88 Sometimes you can get a deal at Hotels.com.

Pretty relaxed. I’ve been slacking on getting the lights up on the house so that is happening today. I’m at a bit of a loss for what to get the family for presents. I’m still struggling with my step sons. I’ll figure it out. But I guess if that is the worst of my worries in life, I’m in pretty good shape.

Feeling good!

I’ve done my holiday routines when teaching exercise classes.

Started practicing with my dance troupe for our upcoming Chanukah event.

Attended one of the tree lighting celebrations where I live.

Christmas parties.

Went to EPCOT at Disney yesterday that was all set up for Christmas. We went to the Mexican pavilion to see their Christmas performance: Las Posadas, and a break the piñata song and dance, and a few others. Also, free stencils from Disney to create patterns on desserts.

I’ve always hated holidays as an adult. More people losing money and security to buy ungrateful people products they don’t need.

Sixty cards sent out, all present bought and decorations up !

Wrapping this weekend.

Aw he’ll, @Tropical_Willie, I am abandoning my current life and coming to your house.
I’ll bring a pie.

I am doing my best to get thru the holidays. Been trying to listen to Christmas music because I really like Christmas music, but the songs being so positive is hard lol.

I had a bad day yesterday because it was the first birthday without my mom, so I am worried for Christmas. But, we have to do it or we never will y’know

Anyways, not trying to bring down the thread. Glad I am not the only one not feeling festive this year, feels less lonely.

@SergeantQueen You’re not bringing down the thread. The thread is specifically for all the feels.

@mazingerz88 Hotel rates in NYC are up extra high now because dozens of NYC hotels have been converted to migrant shelters:

“One in five hotels is now a shelter” – The New York Times:

@Dutchess_III No thanks!!! ;-)
@Brian1946 Geez, every thing from me would be gibberish if I did that!

@SergeantQueen I wish some peace for you, this will be rough for awhile. <3
