Should I give money to help with a fundraiser?

Someone who is famous is posting about giving donations to help with a community. The donations will be sent to this individual.

To me, it would depend on what I could afford and also if I felt the person collecting the money was trustworthy (meaning, they weren’t going to take the money for themselves) and also when you say it’s “for the community,” what specifically is it going to? Building a building? A specific school or other community center? People in the community who are down and out? A food pantry? Just to say “to help with a community” is too vague, to me.

Yes I think the cause organization is for the homeless and different things. The donations go to their phone

Nope. I would not donate to an individual that I’m not truly sure what the money would be used for.

Be careful with this sort of thing. Details would help here.

No. I would donate directly to the charity.

They help out a friend with organization that raise money for kids or homeless. Usually the individual just shares the other person post . This time they are asking money to be text to their phone to Give to cause.

See my previous answer.

I agree with others to donate directly, not to text money to a middle person. Eliminate the middle person. If you can’t afford anything, don’t feel guilty.

Nope. I would consider contributing to an organization, but by giving to an individual you have no idea where the money is really going. Might be legit, might not. I wouldn’t feel ok giving one person a donation. If she/he really wants to help, ask people to give to the organization, not her/him; I would guess they’d get a lot more money.

You’ll have no way of knowing if the money actually gets to the intended recipient. What do you have to go on, the middleman’s word? Of course they’re going to swear they’re giving the money to the community but you really don’t know. You don’t know if they’re broke and keeping it. That’s why people are saying don’t do it.

Exactly so far it shows 0 .I am not sure if people sending another way or they have not received anything as of yet.

Maybe people decided it was too risky.

Donating your time is free. You could volunteer for helping at a shelter, or food drive…
