Hypothetical question:If someone had a plan to help the poor and low income and it would only add 9 trillion to the deficit think it would be looked at?

Asked by SQUEEKY2 (23511points) 1 month ago

I am guessing the conservatives would cover their ears and scream the sky is falling.
But those same conservatives are going to extend those tax breaks from Trump’s first term which will add 9 trillion to the deficit and none of them will have a problem getting that passed.
The real question why no problem with the wealthy , but a big problem with the lower classes ?

What kind of plan? We have quite a few programs in place now in the US.

It was just an example @Dutchess_III on how the conservatives would reject anything for the poor and middle class but welcome an extension of the tax breaks that favour the upper class.

When you moving to Murca Squeeky?

Like never @Dutchess_III I quite like it north of the border, the only reason I get involved in these conversations is what happens in your country seems to seems to affect us up here.

O.
Can I come live with you and Mrs Squeeky?

We shouldn’t add 9 trillion for anything unless we cut pork and special interest money first. But Dems just keep adding them on, thats why Elon is pushing for no deals until Trump is in office.
And its estimated at 5 trillion.

^^Add trump to those who added on the deficit and made wealthy Americans richer.

The poor only cares about getting help? They don’t care how and they don’t care if billionaires pay less taxes or no taxes at all as long as they get help.

Deficits? Which poor voters actually care about whatever those things are?

Dutchess_III's avatar

@mazingerz88…just because someone is poor doesn’t mean they’re stupid or oblivious. Granted, we had more pressing and immediate issues to deal with, but I still voted and tried to keep up with the politics (without the internet.)

mazingerz88's avatar

^^Is not caring due only to stupidity? To being oblivious?

Those poor who voted for trump who are smart enough to know he will raise the deficit enriching the wealthy. Those poor trump
voters who are not stupid and not oblivious to understand that trump’s family business will reap billions while he’s in the WH…what could be their rationale for voting in that direction?

They totally bought his lie that he could bring the cost of groceries, and gas down while his tariffs will have the opposite effect.

Dutchess_III's avatar

But you’re lumping all poor people into the “don’t care” category. But many DO care.
Plenty of stupid, ignorant rich people were stupid enough to vote for trump.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

But @Dutchess_III Trump is for the rich, so I can see why they like him.

mazingerz88's avatar

@Dutchess_III Notice my question marks. I did ask which poor people care and your answer was those who voted. For the Dems right?

I still am curious about the poor who voted for Trump with the understanding that he will make the rich richer raising the deficit.

Some poor people are dumb. They see a rich guy promising to make them rich too.
Some rich people are dumb too. They see a rich guy just like them.
Many rich people think they got rich because of their superior intelligence. Trump too must have superior intelligence. Hence they vote for his stupid a$$.

If we cut 9 trillion by reducing redundancy in our government spending, increase taxes on the superwealthy, and trim government over paying for goods and services.

I would love to help the poor in many ways. Providing housing would be at the top of my list. Beautify neighborhoods. Foster community help and activities. Also, free birth control.

President Clinton had a policy if you wanted to spend more government money you have to show where the money could come from. Maybe that’s why we had a surplus at one point when he was president. We spend billions in interest on money borrowed, if we didn’t have that debt we could give the poor and all americans a better life.
