Have you ever crashed a party, picnic, conference or other event(s)?

I’m not referring to only showing up at a party uninvited, but I mean showing up to a party where nobody knows who you are, and you blend in with the crowd so as to eat and/or drink for free, dance, enjoy the festivities, without being detected as not belonging.
I’m thinking of the movie “Wedding Crashers” where they show up at weddings and eat, drink and flirt with other guests.
I’m thinking of weddings, company picnics, corporate meetings, company holiday parties, conferences, stuff where you weren’t invited, you didn’t belong but you crashed, blended in with the crowd and hung out.

Never crashed, but I have shown up to listen to a band when I was researching who to hire for my own wedding. We dressed up and went to a reception for about fifteen minutes. The band leader had told us where they would be playing. I think we only stood out because my husband had on a black suit not a tux, not that you can’t get away with that anyway, or maybe just because we were a new set of faces suddenly in the crowd, if someone was good at taking in faces. One woman started talking to us and figured out we were there to see the band. Not that she cared, she was nice and smiled about it, she probably had done the same at some point since guessed it. We didn’t eat or drink anything.
My friend’s dad took us out to dinner in San Francisco and we all wore coat and tie. We went for a nightcap at the then revolving bar at the top of the. Hyatt Regency.
As we were leaving, we took an elevator down, and it stopped ouside one of the ballrooms where a wedding reception was going on. The friend’s dad said, let’s check it out”, and we went in and fit right in with the other guests, went to the bar and got some drinks.
They had a good band so a couple of us asked some girls to dance. Had a lot of fun, but we split before we got caught.
Another time my fraternity was having a costume party, and one of the apartments next door was also having a party. I could hear their stereo when our band took a break, so I went next door to check it out. Turns out it was a party of international students. Met a girl from Sweden there, and took her back to the fraternity party for a little while. I have always wondered what happened to Anna Blum from Uppsala.
Yes. But it was a total mistake. I was in an unfamiliar small city in Japan and i still navigating the language. I was looking for a place to eat and noticed a nice place with a buffet that seemed to have lots of interesting items and reasonably well dressed patrons. Perfect!
I walked in and was immediately greeted and welcomed by friendly staff. They even seated me with other friendly people who appeared to be my age. Of course I didn’t understand what they were saying but I was able to say that “I am working in Japan for about a year.”; and “Sorry my Japanese is so poor,” and “This is delicious.” ”“Where do you live?” “I am an engineer.” “The weather is so nice.” That kind of stuff.
I ate, drank listened to the music, tried to talk. Eventually someone found a Japanese who was a relatively good English speaker and we stared to talk. Surprise!
It was a private event. His company rented the whole restaurant which was closed to the public for their private party. I was mortified! No harm no foul. They knew I’d made a mistake.
I was invited to stay. They even gave me the microphone so I could learn to introduce myself in Japanese.
I’m sure I was either offered a job or maybe a recipe for making okonomiyaki, or maybe it was a discussion about golf memberships, or maybe it was about the recent stock market crash. Who knows? I stayed for about 2 hours and had a ball. They did, too.
Do I look like an MQ-9 to you?
Well, sort-of. I was with a couple of friends at a park and we saw a bunch of people celebrating something. We went over to ask what was going on, and found out that someone’s Italian grandmother was marrying someone else’s Vietnamese grandfather. We were escorted over to meet the happy couple, and urged to join the festivities, so we kissed and hugged everybody, drank some champagne, ate some interesting food, and took our leave. Very little English was spoken, so much joy was had!
I’m just remembering my inlaws sort of crashed a party in Monaco. My husband wasn’t on that trip. They entered some hotel all dressed up when guests were arriving and were basically told to go to the party, so they did. Lol. I don’t know all of the details.
Yea, a long time ago, we were walking around NYC, saw a bunch of people standing outside an apartment at an overflowing house party.
I grabbed my wife’s hand and said let’s go lol.
It was some rich guys apartment with a DJ and people dancing in the living room and we got some beers conversation for free from total strangers.
Yep. Was in Big Sky with family and bro’s family at a restaurant that was hosting a wedding rehearsal dinner. As we left, we noticed a Wedding Photo Booth Trailer near the door. They had all kinds of attire and masks to wear.
We crashed it and made some of the most memorable funny photo’s ever!!
