What are your plans for the upcoming holidays: Christmas, Hanukkah, Yule, Kwanzaa, New Years?

Asked by jca2 (17047points) 1 month ago

Do you have any plans for the upcoming holidays?

Are you staying home and hosting? Staying home and not hosting, but enjoying some solitude? Going elsewhere?

I am stocked up on food and drink. I will Fluther, surf YouTube, nap and call my mom.

My kiddo is doing all the work, I am going to their house with the dog and being a blob. Then back home and I will make plans to greet the New Year well rested after a good night’s sleep.

I am duller than beige this year, and delighted with it.

Going to my daughter’s on Christmas – cooking a brisket, hanging some pictures, and fixing a door latch that got broken.

Watching football as well.

May go to a service on Christmas eve but depends on the weather. Home by my own fireplace on Christmas morning with a special breakfast, opening some gifts to myself and getting call from my kids. Then a Christmas dinner at some old friends who live nearby and home to pjs and Netflix. Not sure about New Year’s yet – may go to the city to a friend’s for a concert or do something with the guy I’m dating (?).

My holiday will be pretty low-key. I actually work Christmas Eve morning, which is going to be fun because they’re calling for freezing rain in our area. Then I will go to church in the evening with my sister. I plan to sleep in on Christmas Day and then I will go up my sisters for dinner. But I have to work the next day, although I’m not going in until 11:00. That’s pretty much it except we are also doing lunch at Carrabba’s on Saturday.

Family, Festivities, Food.

I celebrate both Christmas with family and Hanukkah with my best friends.

Ugh… pork ribs that I was saving for Christmas is bad. Will order KFC and will cook the ribs. I will eat one rib and do a taste test.

Nothing special really. I’m going to have a big meal with my family. And I’m going to spend my day off catching up with my art.

My friend group has a tradition of giving gifts for Christmas so I made a Christmas-theme artwork. I’m too lazy to take another photo so I’ll just include this photo of my recent dolls here. You can see the Christmas thing in the photo

Update KFC was open today December 24th. I cooked the pork ribs and will most likely toss them in the trash. I have frozen pork ribs and Shaq-a-Roni Pizza for later if I need.

I bought 6 piece dark meat and gravy and french fries. Was delicious.

Everything Is ok. Other than dental pain. Pharmacy gave me some Tylenol which works ok.

Christmas: avoid as much Christmas music as possible, maybe look for good gifts a bit

Hanukkah: remember Jewish people I used to be in contact with, appreciate them, think sympathetic thoughts and well wishes

Yule: enjoy winter and trees and tune in to nature, make some forest offerings

Kwanzaa: nothing

New Years: nothing

Update Am trying Advil ibuprofen for dental pain. Will see if it works better than the Tylenol.

@RedDeerGuy1 assuming it’s not some larger dental problem that you need to have taken care of, another thing that really helps is to get some Orajel. That does wonders!

Mixing Tylenol and advil made my lips and cheek numb. I stopped taking them December 27 @6pm.
Dentist appointment at December 30 Monday @10.:30am Lips still numb, and hurts.

@RedDeerGuy1 I’m glad you’re going to the dentist tomorrow. All those other things are just putting off the inevitable so it’s better to just get it taken care of.

@LifeQuestioner Thanks. Will update.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

@LifeQuestioner Dentist prescribed antibiotics and pain killers. She will see me in January 8 @10:30am

Also the dentist said that mixing Tylenol and Advil did not make my lips numb.
