Yes. Just like it would illegal in a park or a train or a plane or in their front yard.

I am guessing because there are laws against public nudity, this would fall under that category.

@jca2 What about by oneself in a private stall?

^^ Way too obvious and besides why would one? It’s a fairly creepy idea.

@RedDeerGuy1 I would think that if you’re in the stall and being quiet, nobody else knows and it would be your own private time. However, if you were in the stall and making noise, or taking too long, or someone suspected you were up to something weird, they might call the cops on you.

I agree with @janbb why would you want to do that in a public restroom, if you had your own private apartment to do such things?

@all I heard a story years ago of a woman who has a disorder that leaves her constantly aroused. She has to masterbate in a mall public washrooms when It gets bad.
So I wondered it it was legal?
Where do the homeless people go when nature calls?

@janbb I have no plans to do it as I find it creepy too?

Just wondering.

The regional laws probably vary.

But there are almost always some general laws against lewd behavior. The details then start to matter. If someone does something lewd in a hidden location/manner such that no one notices, it both won’t be caught and might not amount to a violation.

Many women can (potentially) masturbate without anyone knowing, especially with cover like a restroom stall. That would both generally go unnoticed, not offend anyone since no can even detect it, and depending on local laws might not even be illegal.

In some places, even talking about it might end up being punishable, I suspect (though IANAL). That is, if you say “I’m going to go do erotic things to myself in the bathroom” – that might even be considered punishable lewd behavior.

(As for why someone might want to – each person has their own sexuality, which can vary quite a bit.)
