How do we go about contacting mods?

Asked by MakeItSo1701 (13505points) 1 month ago

I am on mobile and I only see send feedback, I am not sure that is appropriate for what I need, and I might be blind with the desktop version.

I want to know if it is possible to change my username. I have had some problems recently with someone finding me on various platforms and even though I feel like I am safe here, I am getting a little paranoid. I have used this username on a few things, now changed.

I know this is a dumb question, I just want to do this the proper way.

This is probably a good way with this question
Now that I apparently can answer, I wanted to contact the mods also because it appears my “ask a question” is broken. I don’t know if it’s me or I’m in Fluther jail for something. But I’ve tried on multiple computers and browsers.

“Contact the mods” is broken. Send a PM directly to @longgone. I have sent her this question. You’ll get contacted.

And SQ, that’s not a dumb request. Internet safety is a legitimate concern.

@SergeantQueen You can also close your old account and make a brand new one. The only downside that i can think of to that is that you won’t be able to search your old SQ writings. You can still read them, but not via search.

Yeah I really do not want to close this account. I would rather just risk it. Changing a username is one thing, but doing stuff like that in my opinion is letting one person dictate my life too much.

Not that it is a bad suggestion, worse comes to worse, my safety comes first.

Haha that kind of rhymes.

The good news is that the mods have always been really good about this stuff, the better news is that fluther is so small and unnoticeable these days that it’s pretty well off mst radars. Do what Jake says, @longgone is good people, and be safe!

Ask a Q is broken and Graphics are wonky, anyone else having problems ?

I’m good. Samsung here.

I was under the assumption the site was still locked down, meaning new users aren’t allowed to join. Mods did this a while back because spam was getting bad. Creating a new account won’t work.

The desktop version is just really, really small. But blow it up and you’ll be fine. Just get where you want to go, in this case to the top of the page where it says “Contact the Mods.” Do your thing, then switch it back to mobile mode.

Yeah, also my email needs to be changed. It is my school email and I have not had access since 2019. Cannot believe I never noticed that.

I was told contact the mods was broken, someone said they sent this to a mod so I will wait first.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh hell. I’ve had the same, long defunct email that I used when I signed up in 2009!
I wouldn’t worry about it.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well? Did you get it resolved @Queenie?

MakeItSo1701's avatar

No one has contacted me. I do not want to bombard any of the mods, should I contact them?

Dutchess_III's avatar

We’ll figure it out next week. December just sucks for getting anything done.

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

@SergeantQueen Please see my answer above. Send a PM directly to @longgone.

I can’t search for her or find her. Fluther search does not work

[mod says] I’m really sorry. We do usually check Meta regularly, and I’m not sure why or how we missed this entirely. We need to talk to Ben about repairing at least some of the contact options. I’ll do that. In the meantime, it should always work to find and then PM SavoirFaire or me (or muppetish, though they’re not always around) by going to the Help section, where you’ll find the list of mods. It’s at the top of the screen, in the orange bar. If you can’t find it, just go to https://i.fluther.com/help/. Alternatively, you can google something like fluther + longgone. To get even more results, you can also tell Google to search Fluther, specifically, by typing site:fluther.com “longgone”.

I’ve sent you a PM about your request, SQ.

Looks like we dropped the ball here (before the official ball was dropped). Sorry again.
