What would be the appropriate writing utensil for this?
I am starting to read some books I would like to take notes on. This is what I would be writing in.
Honestly, I am wanting to keep myself busy with this while I am waiting for school to start, so yeah this will seem tedious and unnecessary, but just go along with it.
I want to take my notes in pencil (because I am a perfectionist) and then go back and color code it with pen or marker.
I do not want it to bleed onto next page, be seen from the back of the page, or smear when I erase the pencil.
A review that I cannot link shows felt tip, roller, sharpie, highligher, ballpoint, generic marker all being seen from the back of the page.
I have my own stuff to test out, but does anyone here have any ideas?
I would rather not buy a new notebook, unless I had to. I could use the one I have for school.
The alternative is I could just be boring and do it all in pencil.
To summarize:
I want colored pens or markers that are ideally a fine/smaller point, that will not smear or smudge, especially when erasing pencil from underneath, and I do not want it to be seen from behind the page or onto the next page. I like pens or markers that are thicker because it is easier for me to hold. I am picky about my writing.

i can only empathize because I have that problem too, especially in a book I want to highlight because I am teaching it.
If you want to use that notebook, perhaps only write or highlight on the front of the page and let it dry before turning to another page? Sometimes I use mini-post-it notes rather than highlighters next to certain passages.
Ahhh, so based on that do you think getting a thicker paged notebook would be best? Or just write in pencil?
I just want pretty notes >.< I would not be highlighting, just literally tracing all of my writing with colored pens. Black for the main stuff then colored as needed, if that makes sense. This, but no highlighting or pictures
@janbb I am having a hard time visualizing what you mean by If you want to use that notebook, perhaps only write or highlight on the front of the page and let it dry before turning to another page?
I meant don’t write on the back and front of each page and let the ink dry before you turn it back to the rest of the notebook. I think though if you’re not talking about highlighting you should be able to use fine tipped ballpoint pens or gel pens without it bleeding.
How about those sticky notes that form little arrows? All different colors. (I adore organizing!)
I’m not any help, just wanted to jump in and say I love all thing to do with writing. Just your link made me want to buy a notebook and stuff!
I agree with the gel pens.
I use post-it notes in color. I have the post it hang off the side or bottom and write on the part sticking out a word or two so I know what that tab is about. If you use a large post-it you can write more on the part hidden, but you cover text. If you use a small one you won’t cover other words on the page.
No, I don’t want sticky notes :( I am being picky
