It may be open on his phone or web browser. Try to not pay attention to details like that. They can be misleading and drive you crazy.

He might be a player and so he’s texting and communicating with a lot of women. If you never see him, and he just wants an occasional text or a naked photo of you, he’s probably doing the same with 20 other women.

If he sees you, and it’s not just for sex, but he wants to hang out, go out, do stuff, spend time with you, talk on the phone or text about stuff other than sex or naked photos, (for example if he texts to ask how is your day or to tell you about something in his life), then it’s a good sign.
