Do you use a “Waterpik”?

Asked by gondwanalon (23280points) 1 day ago

What model do you have?

How long have you had it?

Is it still operational? If not then how long did your Waterpik last before it stopped functioning?

I’ve gone through 3 Waterpiks within the last 5 years (two “Waterpik Sonic Fusions” and one “Waterpik Flosser”). My last Waterpik is a “Waterpik Flosser” which lasted just about one year. Now it no longer works.

How about you?

I have a Nicefeel water flosser. I have had it for at least 5 years and probably on average use it 3 to 4 times a week. I recommend this one.

I have the water pik 20016141 ultra and it has lasted me for about 5 years. I think people sometimes may just have really hard water that gets stuck. I clean mine out at least once a week by just using hot water and then run some water after that with peroxide to kill off any potential bacteria. I don’t have soft water but its also not very hard water.

My sister has very hard water and her water pik keeps breaking because of the mineral deposit build up. You can maybe try running vinegar through it. Its near impossible to clear out the hose once that’s clogged.
If you have very hard water than maybe try using at least filtered water in your waterpik.

@chyna Thanks, I use my Waterpik’s 2 to 3 times a day. It’s been very helpful is healing my gums. I’ll try Nicefeel next.

@Pandora Thanks. I didn’t think that the water may be damaging the Waterpik. We hard slightly hard water here in Tacoma. But it’s nothing compared the extra hard water in San Antonio. Anyway my Waterpiks don’t make any sound like they are trying to pump water but can’t. They’re just dead like the motor died or the rechargeable (non-changeable internal) battery isn’t recharging anymore.

I have used a Waterpik “water flosser” for maybe two years, on and off.

It still works, but I haven’t used it as regularly as you. It takes AA batteries and I tend to get in the shower at night too late and/or too tired to have thought to replace them before I just decide not to use it.

The non-rechargeable batteries mean the power level degrades as the batteries run down, and the small reservoir in it isn’t enough to do my whole mouth well before it runs out, so I have been meaning to replace it to a corded one with a large enough reservoir, but it’s taking me months of doing other things to get around to ordering one, so I’m interested if anyone here has a model they like.

@gondwanalon I have a plug-in electric one. Not rechargeable. Since its broken, I would take it apart to see what is the problem. It can either be the battery got rusted or the rechargeable battery needs to be replaced. Some have a short life span. When looking up the life of a rechargeable battery, they say its for the life of the product for waterpik. Then looking up warranty for water piks they say for 2 to 3 years depending on the product. So that tells me the life of the product is probably 2 to 3 years or they would make the warranty longer. Though some products can last longer, I take it that 2 to 3 years is how long it will last depending on usage. The more you use it the shorter its life.
So if you can try a counter one and a cordless one for when you travel.
I’m thinking of getting a travel one for when I travel. I hate not having a water pik available when I go on trips. If I feel the slightest bit of food between my teeth it drives me crazy. Some areas is difficult to floss right.
