Can somebody help me figure out the name of this film?

I’m sorry to disappoint everybody, but this question has nothing to do with politics, lol!

When I was a kid, so somewhere in the ‘70s or early ‘80s, I saw this movie where this group of friends went camping. Or it might have been a boy scout troop with some parents along, sorry, but it’s been a long time. Anyway, they were out somewhere remote and of course there were no cell phones back then, even in the movies, and their radio broke for some random reason. People back in the city and elsewhere found out suddenly that there was a comet on the way that was going to hit in their area. The problem is, they didn’t have a way of reaching the people out camping in the middle of the woods, so they didn’t have a way of letting them know that they needed to get back to civilization and take shelter somewhere. I think eventually somebody drove out to where they were camping and told them, but by then it was too late for them to get back to any sort of shelter. So from what I remember, they were trying to dig a big hole in the ground to take shelter in. But then I don’t remember anything else that happened, and I would really like to watch this movie again. Since there’s all sorts of obscure movies from back when that you can now find streaming somewhere online, I was hoping somebody could help me with the title.

I remember that movie. Richard Crenna was in it. Checking.

It was called “A Fire In The Sky”.
It is streaming on Freevee.

@filmfann thanks! I think I saw that on one of my streaming platforms, or maybe on YouTube so I’ll check it out! I can’t tell you how many years I’ve been wanting to find that movie and watch it again.

They rarely have things in the movies that they don’t have in real life, like cell phones.

I found it on Prime. Watching now.
