What are some advances in religion, and spirituality?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (25166points) 1 month ago

Also what positive changes are made recently?
What changes would you like to make?

For me I appreciate not being harassed or pressured into joining any organized religion, in years.

Buddhists deciding to share some ancient techniques such as prana breathing with non-gurus, especially Westerners, to try to bring about healing and transformation desperately needed in these times.

Development of new forms of spirituality and re-development of pre-Christian Western spiritual traditions for people longing for meaningful practices relevant to their own ancestry, while avoiding aspects of the Christian practices that eradicated what came before.

People in various cultures developing understandings of spiritual practices from other cultures, and ways to bridge the culture gaps between them.

Scientific efforts to understand various spiritual elements.

In religion, not much. The coercive religions become more abhorrent, and the free-thinking religions (or no religion at all) become more popular. Most people don’t want to be told how to live their lives, and they definitely don’t want to be dictated to by get-rich-quick religions scammers.

Spirituality is another thing entirely. If you can define it, I’ll comment.

The only true advance in religion would be for religious leaders to say to say “It’s all bullshit designed to control you”. That would be an advance.

@elbanditoroso I would define as wisdom, personality type, and alignment.
