When I worked at a branch library with no staff room, I used to take my lunch to a historic graveyard in the town to eat.

In college, I’d often visit the Chapel of the Chimes. (It’s a columbarium in Oakland.)

Someone had donated a bird in memory of a loved one. I always thought that was both such a sad and a significant life for a little bird.
