Will Trump be Time Magazine's man of the year?

Asked by LostInParadise (32296points) 1 month ago

It is a bit early to speculate, but I think that the damage that he is and will be causing should give him a lock on the honor, which he complained about not receiving in the past.

But he did receive it – in 2016.

From Time:

“The magazine explained: “For reminding America that demagoguery feeds on despair and that truth is only as powerful as the trust in those who speak it, for empowering a hidden electorate by mainstreaming its furies and live-streaming its fears, and for framing tomorrow’s political culture by demolishing yesterday’s, Donald Trump is Time 2016 Person of the Year.”

Asking the wrong question.

Will there be a United States at the end of December 2025? That’s the more serious threat.

If he was the Time Man of the Year 2024, it’s not likely they’d do it twice in a row. Just my opinion. Of course, I could be wrong.

You’re assuming there will still be a free press in the US then.
