Most commercial ginger ale uses artificial ginger flavoring, zero ginger. It is possible to make your own ginger ale at home with real ginger. There are recipes and instructions online.
Modern day ginger ale (soda) has pretty much no ginger in it. I used to buy Trader Joe’s Triple Ginger brew when they had it. It has a much different flavor than Canada Dry, but you can definitely taste the ginger in it.
This is why I drink Ginger Beer.
Even the flavoring is less than 2%. I love ginger for its healing properties and add to most of my stirfrys. Its also amazing as a salad dressing, my favorite noodle restaurant has it, so good.
Ginger beer is non alcoholic since I can’t edit my response.
Super strong but yummy. Sprechers is another made with real ginger.
Sucks that most sodas are fake, but ginger is so strong it would not be that popular.
@MakeItSo1701 I found Ginger Beer online in stores that I usually shop from. Thanks : ) will order next time I shop.
I wonder what kind of roots are used in root beer?
Is it true that Ginger Grant (Gilligan’s Island character) got her name from one of the writers who liked Ginger Ale?
It’s mostly just flavor and extracts in the first place.
Besides, I preferred Mary Ann over Ginger.
Unless you go to an artisinal soda or drink maker, you’re not likely to find these ingredients like you may have 150 years ago.
Yeah, ever since gingers were granted human rights, they could no longer be used as the core ingredient.
@snowberry An interesting recipe. I have had sassafras tea before, but I also learned there are pretty severe health hazards associated with it. I’m surprised that recipe calls for it.
I bought a four pack of ginger beer. The ingredients list does not say ginger. Unless it is included in natural flavors.
