Will this prompt more violence?

Asked by raum (13654points) 4 days ago from iPhone

Trump just tweeted:
“He who saves his Country does not violate any Law.”

Can he be held accountable for urging his followers to break the law? Or is this him basically saying that he is above the law?

“Can he be held accountable for urging his followers to break the law?” Your “supreme court” ruled that he can not be prosecuted for “official acts”, so the answer to that is “no”.
“Or is this him basically saying that he is above the law?” Yes.

What if people think the way to “save” the country is . . . to do something rather different?

Yes, I think most of what Trump and Musk have done is a provocation, and also that the degree to which “Trump’s” “tweet” makes sense, also applies to taking actions to stop him destroying good things.

And Nixon wasn’t a crook.

That is a quote from Napoleon. Is he Trump’s role model? Let’s introduce him to a nice island.

Who decides who is saving the country?

Trump’s statement is one of a dictator.

As well as napoleon Hitler, Stalin, franco and Mussolini all said something similar. It the kind of thing that’s sounds good if you’re not too smart and don’t think about it too much.

The Jan 06 pardons were a step to give Trump an army of angry, aggrieved, proven unstable violent weirdos to be easily provoked into attacks on whoever he vaguely points them.

Can he be held accountable? No, thanks to the Republican Supreme Court lackeys who presented him with a gift of immunity, which they will swiftly deny to any Democrat who invokes it.

It’s a coup.
