I just ran across the term “editorial nail artist” for the first time. It seems to mean someone who does fancy nails. Why is this called “editorial”?
Are there any other similar uses of the term “editorial” outside a writing and publishing context?

That seems very weird to me but googling it seems to be a widely used term.
All I can think of is that “editorial” is another word for “opinion” which could lead to “points of view”. I know…it’s a reach.
This is the only explanation I could find:
“Kicking down doors since 2014, The Editorial Nail is dedicated to creating conversation- worthy nail art for you; the artsy, minimalist and chic. We intersect nail artistry across industries while leading with originality, innovation and securing partnerships with some of your favorite brands like Fenty Skin , MTV , OPI and more.”
This is good if you’re interested beyond this question. It’s about a woman who’s famous in the world of Editorial Nails.

I think it relates to “trendy”. I had an acquaintance who lived in NYC who did nails for fashion shows and modeling shoots – I would expect those kind of nail artists to be “editorial”. Innovative, fashion-forward, trendy. Maybe slightly extreme, or above-and-beyond what the majority of nail salon patrons would be requesting.
