I wouldn’t want to carry one bill in such a large denomination because if that one bill gets lost, you’re shit out of 250. I usually prefer 20s. They’re easier to deal with.

I am guessing if 250 bills start being printed with Trump on them, Trump lovers will love to carry them, and Trump haters won’t. It will be a status symbol for the Trump lovers. They might take one and frame it.

What I don’t get, is why not $200? Why $250? It is just such an odd number.

And yeah, I hate even having cash, much less anything above $20.

@MakeItSo1701, I think the idea is to commemorate the nation’s 250th birthday.

First, though, they have to get around the law that says we don’t depict any living person on our currency.

@Jeruba
“to commemorate the nation’s 250th birthday.”
At the same time it is being killed. Hilarious.

Maralargo and trump owned golf clubs will be the only places that will accept them.

What a waste of time to even propose it!

I also predict a wave of counterfeit money with that bill in particular.
People will print out their own bills, and then use maga intimidations tactics and threats to try to force stores to accept their forgeries as genuine.

I wouldn’t – people would think it is fake.

Besides, who carries cash these days?

I don’t think the denomination is a problem, except for it being an odd number. $200 would seem to make more sense to me. But considering inflation, we’ve had $100 bills doing well enough since well before $250 in 2025 money was worth less than $100 at the time.

However, in addition to most people currently not wanting a bill with Trump’s image on it, after it becomes common knowledge that his re-election was a fraud, that situation will be even worse.

Personally, I don’t think there’s any chance of this proposal’s becoming reality. Treating it like a genuine possibility is pointless. It’s just a ploy to gain brownie points for Rep. Wilson & friends, and maybe yet another loyalty test for his colleagues.

@ragingloli, yep. We’re laughing, right?

janbb's avatar

@Jeruba I agree. Why waste time on the outlier crazy crap when there’s so much real horror going on?

MakeItSo1701's avatar

I agree too. Just thought it was a nice break from all the doom and gloom questions because it’s comical to put Trump on a bill no one will accept or want to keep on them.

All of this kiss the ring behavior makes me want to hurl.

A lot of people don’t even believe a $2 bill is legit. $250 is just weird, esp. with Trump’s face on it. Trumpies can already get commemorative 1000 Trump buck bills for cheap: https://www.federalwaymirror.com/marketplace/golden-trump-bucks-review-commemorative-patriotic-dedication-to-the-45th-us-president/
