While in the process of updating to iTunes 8.0 (on a PC), I am being prompted if I want Bonjour installed. Although it’s only 2.24MB I would prefer not to install it if I don’t need it. Install it or not – what you say?

“Bonjour, also known as zero-configuration networking, enables automatic discovery of computers, devices, and services on IP networks. Bonjour uses industry standard IP protocols to allow devices to automatically discover each other without the need to enter IP addresses or configure DNS servers.”
I could be wrong, but I believe iTunes uses Bonjour to allow the sharing of your iTunes library over the local network – a useful feature, in my opinion…
It’s certainly helpful.
You don’t need it, but if you have a mixed os network where you have mac’s then you should install it. I do not believe itunes uses bonjour to share itunes, but I could be wrong. Bonjour is used to help find other services it can connect to through http. It makes use of web servers and it helps windows machines connect to printers connected through OS X.
bonjour is needed if you share printers from you mac to the local network. it ill also share your bookmarks in safari. It’s used for itunes, but on windows it will function without bonjour.
