Would you buy a Tesla at this time?
read this
Given that Tesla is owned by Elon Musk, and that Musk is un-elected and all-powerful, would you want to enrich him by buying a car that is so closely associated with him?
If you own one today, are you planning to sell it? (See article)
Does Musk care?

No. Not since some years ago.
I wouldn’t have before, but you couldn’t pay me to take one now.
Nope not a prayer in hell, especially the way musk and Felon47 have been bad mouthing Canada.
I never wanted one and I definitely don’t want one now.
Maybe if they produce a pug-in hybrid engine.
No. And that is despite the fact that Elon is a Nazi. I just don’t like the drive and I don’t like the ipad interface. I do like the Model S, but it’s far too expensive.
Never. I want nothing to do with THAT MAN.
They are overpriced crap. So many complaints about failures. So, there is not a snowball chance in hell. I rather drive a Nissan EV, which is also crap but at least better priced. But honestly, I distrust self-driving vehicles. It is too easy for something electrical to get damaged, and suddenly your car is driving off a bridge guard rail or into traffic. It relies on cameras, and I haven’t had a camera on my vehicles that don’t eventually get affected by weather conditions or humidity.
But I’m okay with a hybrid. Just don’t need a car now. And if Elon even offered me one for free, I wouldn’t take it. If he’s offering it, its because he stands to make money somehow from the offer.
I own two. They are hands-down the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. I will only ever buy another one if Musk dies or is removed from the company. He’s a fucking Nazi.
You mean a Muskmobile? :P No, I probably wouldn’t.
My dad bought one of the first Teslas (the original Roadster). I remember driving it in high school and being blown away. I have nothing against EVs or people driving Teslas, but it’s a company I’d rather not give any of my any at this time.
^^ They’re calling them Swasticars.
@gorillapaws – Have you faced any issues with people and your cars? We’ve had a bunch of protests and actions here in MA like burning rows of Tesla charging stations and placing stickers on the cars, etc.
There is someone who owns one of those absurd Tesla cybertrucks in my town. When they first bought it last year, they would park it in front of their house. Since January, it’s been tucked behind the house. Tesla cars have certainly become a political statement.
Quick, somebody stick Musk-Nazi salute stickers on gorillapaws’ cars!
That must be regional though, to an extent. In the Bay Area, every other car is a Tesla. I’m exaggerating, but they are everywhere there. In the Bay, the Cybertruck may still be seen as a political statement (due to its garishness in part), but the other models not so much anymore. Though I have heard of people putting anti-Musk bumper stickers on their Teslas to shield themselves from judgment and reprisal.
@Demosthenes: ”Though I have heard of people putting anti-Musk bumper stickers on their Teslas to shield themselves from judgment and reprisal.”
That seems like a good idea.
I don’t do bumper stickers. It’s just my personal preference. My wife bought one with an Elon with a line crossing him out it and is driving around with that. I haven’t had any issues personally. My car is a 2018, so if someone gives me grief I’ll explain that I bought my car before Musk went crazy. As for my wife’s, it was used from a Ford dealer before Musk went MAGA, so my conscious is mostly clear on that one as well.
Ultimately, Musk is a symptom. The root of the problem is the Democratic establishment preventing a populist left movement that would easily crush MAGA. The result is a desperate electorate looking for some form of change and they’re primed for right wing populist messaging blaming immigrants, people of color, the working poor, etc.
^ I’m not judging you for it. No need to explain. Just wondering if you have had any challenging interactions. As @Demosthenes said, the Cybertruck might be more of a statement.
I’m also well aware that Musk is a symptom of a rotten economic system, and not the problem itself. I also live in a very liberal state, where questioning systems isn’t very common. They seem to be ok with pre-MAGA Musk, which is pretty disgusting.
I saw a demonstration outside of a Tesla dealer last week, Westchester county NY.
NY Times reports Tesla dealers getting shot at, dealers plate glass windows getting shattered, various parts of the country.
There are so many Teslas in LA. It’s become the most prevalent “luxury” car I see on the freeways. The other day I saw one with a bumper sticker that said “Now I drive this shame.”
I haven’t seen a lot of new ones on the road. I’m curious what will happen as this year progresses.
Tesla stock dropped almost 50% in the last month.
@chyna In the words of Trump, “Winning!”
People are calling Musk a Nazi but I think that’s unfair. The Nazi’s made decent cars.
They could give them away and I would still not get behind the wheel of one and trust my life to it’s design.
The latest thing is that Trump posted today that everybody should buy a Tesla to thank Musk, and that he’s going to go out and buy one tomorrow. It brings to mind him promoting the Goya beans last time around, and it’s definitely not supposed to happen with him as president.
It is kind of amusing to see traditional EV-haters now trying to convince themselves that EVs are based. In the same sentence, they’ll say that EVs are woke and “libtarded” and then they’ll praise Musk and his “genius”.
I bet trump has never drove a car in his life.
^^ He has driven in the past but admits that it is beyond his capability now.
He probably drove Roy Cohn around back in the day. ~
Trump is a cheap grifter and bad example to the rest of the world of a USA President.
(He doesn’t need the rest of the world, Putin has him covered.)
Not when it’s classified as a haven of domestic terrorism. Way to go Donald. Dig the hole deeper.
I have a 1st Amendment right to protest and speak my mind. Speaking one’s mind is not terrorism, Donny. You don’t like it, LEAVE.
Tesla stock down 50%. Winning! Sorry, I see that @chyna posted that already today.
I saw this meme on Facebook today:
I simply can’t understand all of the fuss over tourists sightseeing at Tesla dealerships.
Lol. You all know I am completely against vandalism and violence no matter who is doing it, but that made me laugh.
