Is disliking Musk's ugly Cybertruck a hate crime?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33723points) 11 hours ago

what idiots! read this

Cybertruck owners want protection from the government as a protected class (like minorities, women, gays, etc.) because they feel picked on for buying Muskmobiles. (and taking shit for that buying decision)

Is this the sort of minority group that hate crime legislation is designed to protect?

No. Driving around in that dumpster on wheels should be one, though.

It isn’t a hate crime but I hope karma bites them in the ass for being petty. Grow the fuck up.

It is an ugly car, however, and I don’t like Musk.

I think my car insurance lists it as an Armored Vehicle and not insurable !

A Tesla is not a special class that needs defending. I am glad his Stock is tanking and I am glad his business is failing as a needed whiplash.

Why does every inconvenience to these people have to be a hate crime? I don’t understand these people and their obsession with wanting to be victims.

I genuinely laughed out loud when I read that headline. And then I watched a video of Trump talking nonsense and Elon standing at his side looking like a smug idiot. Honestly watching American politics lately feels almost dystopian to me.

@MilkyWay It’s not “almost dystopian” – it is!

It’s some ridiculous shit. Comparing that to an actual real hate crime like a crime against Jewish people, gays, etc.

I call every cybertruck driver a douchbag. Does that count?

Blackwater_Park's avatar

@Caravanfan Same. I joke with my wife that there has never been a more visible way for people to self-identify as douchbags.

On the flip side, the people who vandalize and really take offense to them are douchbag-adjacent IMO. It’s just an ugly, impractical and expensive truck looking EV at the end of the day.

No, but it is one fucking ugly truck.

Shh, they haven’t thought of that one yet.

Taking offense gives them a pretext for punishing people. What fun for them.

Pretty sure that thoughts of disliking something are not crimes.

suppose that if you painted a swastika on a CyberTruck and then torched it then it could be considered a hate crime.

The CyberTruck is a colossal blunder (and a ridiculous joke) by a guy that’s supposed to be so smart.

Apparently, Republicans and Musk are trying to say boycotting his vehicles is illegal. I had no idea Americans everywhere were obligated to buy his vehicles. Him aside. Yes, I can’t stand him, but even before he came on the scene, I hated his vehicles. The first time I saw his cyber truck, I didn’t even know it was a tesla. I just looked at it and thought someone made their own ugly vehicle to put in some car show. I couldn’t believe how ugly it looked. Then when I discovered it was a tesla and how expensive it was, I thought you couldn’t give me that cartoon drawn car. Of course knowing it was his now, I thought, wow, he really has people snowed. Goes to show you money doesn’t come with taste or sense.
Like look at some runway shows. Some hideous outfits sold because it has a designers name on it. Ugly is ugly. You can’t take a canvas and throw dung on it and then sell it to me and call it art. Its dung on paper.
He should be charged with littering the streets with this eyesore.
