I live on a lake and there are lots of geese around. I hope bird flu gets under wraps.
I think the concept is about finding birds with immunity for a vaccine.
Over 100 million animals are used in research and testingcjust in the us each year. Not counting mice, rats, fish and birds whichcare not always included in USDA reports.
I personally dont see an issue if it saves human lives, though I abhor any animal suffering.
I think chicken is going to become as expensive as veal. I feel this administration isn’t happy at just hurting people. They want to destroy everything and everyone. I don’t know how they are going to discover anything being they keep cutting out inspectors and scientists. So I call bullshit on this. This whole administration doesn’t believe in science.
@KNOWITALL Thats not how you find vaccines. We have a vaccine for bird flu in humans already but Americans dont like vaccines so its a moot point. I’d also be interested as to where you got the 100 million animals are used in research figure from. The reported is figure is 23–24 million with less than 1 million not rats, mice, birds or fish.
@Lightlyseared Saying Americans don’t like vaccines is a sweeping generalization. There are anti-vax factions but many Americans do get vaccinated.
@jca2 – sad about Covid vax. I hate bird flu because it made eggs scarce and expensive.

Kennedy has no medical experience and he’s a whack job whose anti-vax rhetoric led to the deaths of 83 people, mostly children, by the measles, in Samoa in 2019. He has subsequently lied about the people having measles, claiming he doesn’t know what killed them, and lying about why he was in Samoa in the first place, which was to discourage vaccines, and to instead take his alternative cures. He met with a group of anti-vaxxers while in Samoa.

People in the U.S. have basically given up all precautions to prevent covid, which contrary to the belief that the pandemic was over (that was on Biden) is still in full swing.
What was meant by “over” is that the government was going to stop paying for vaccines and PCR tests, and not mandating masking in healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, and doctors offices.
This situation of denial holds the perfect parameters for a bird flu epidemic to get out of control quickly. With Dump disappearing medical information from the CDC’s website and breaking off relations with WHO and NIH, and people no longer trusting the government, and not seeking out information from experts, we are headed for a burning poop pit.
Makes me wonder if Trump is like the Pharaoh from the Bible – attracts plagues when in power.
