If Trump successfully manages to have a judge impeached for not agreeing with him, will we even have a justice system any more?

Asked by Pandora (32692points) 3 hours ago

Republicans are following through with wanting to impeach a Judge for disagreeing with him. There are appeal options always available. So if he is going to rule the next 4 years by having Judges impeached that don’t go along with what he wants, will this kill the Judiciary branch?

Is this about the judge telling Trump all USAID has to be paid out even if its ridiculous?

@KNOWITALL Its the one that issued a ruling to stop deportations because Trump is using a wartime law that shouldn’t apply because we are not at war. He can always appeal. but instead he’s going straight to having him impeached and Republicans in the House are all for it. Though there are calls to impeach other judges as well that went against Trump and Musk on other things as well. Though I see no problem about sending violent criminals away who are in a gang situation, I don’t even understand the use of this law in the first place to do it.
He’s using it as a broad brush to get rid of anyone without proof. Like the college student, who protested and they are claiming he has ties to Hamas but they can’t seem to provide any proof other than he is a political activist against Isreal.

@Pandora Ohh okay. I saw a lot of posts about draining the swamp in regards to judges on X.

Which swamp are they trying to drain??

Pandora's avatar

@janbb The one where there still may be some actual law and justice.

What makes you think we have a justice system to begin with? I don’t mean to sound snarky, but I mean look who is president.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@janbb Supposedly a judge said all the USAID, even the nonsensical expenditures, needed to be reinstated. Thus they label judges opposing the wasteful spending cuts are considered part of the swamp.

@Knowitall, I said above it wasn’t about that judge.
@MakeItSo1701 The fact that there are still judges willing to do what is right and risk Maga maniacs and calls for impeachments means the justice system isn’t completely corrupt. But Trump is already usurping the power of the legislative branch and now the judiciary branch. He will officially be a dictator the moment he tumbles the judiciary. If his laws and rules become supreme over everyone else, then he is a dictator.
