Any opinions on Rheem air conditioners?

Asked by JLeslie (65993points) 3 weeks ago

We have a Carrier and are looking to do an addition on our house. One of the builders regularly puts in Rheem A/C, which are less expensive. What is your experience and opinion? What about having two different brands on the one house? Thanks!

Rheem and Ruud are both very good HVAC as well as water heaters. There was a Rheem/Ruud plant back in my home state and those names were on pretty much every water heater I ever saw. When my downstairs HVAC went out before I moved to another state, I replaced it with a Rheem. My daughter bought the house and has had no problem with it. That was in 2010.

Good but limit sizes (most are medium sized) and they are more noisy than Trane. My HVAC maintenance company (all brands) will steer you away from Rheem.

Rheem is good, Goodman/Daikin is more economical with a better warranty. IMO as long as you stay away from Lennox or Johnson Controls/York/Luxaire you’re doing well.
