Why do so many dyed blonds on TV have very dark roots showing?

Asked by janbb (63394points) 2 days ago

Is this supposed to be a style?

Time for some fluff.

Right, and why does an Amazon princess (Wonder Woman) not have armpit hair? You would think it wouldn’t be a thing in a country of only woman warriors?

I wonder about this, too. I make sure mine are covered up every two months.
Maybe it is a style, but I don’t really like it.

They’re probably busy….you get a haircut/style every 2 weeks or so, and it looks great for a few good days, then your naturalness starts to show, but you have a life, kids, career, etc.

And the style/haircut is also expensive (plus tip), so you hold off until you’re not as busy.

But I personally think it looks great, so maybe it transformed into a style over time, similar to that past trend of women dying their hair fully grey (which looked amazing by the way).

It’s a tonsorial tribute to Alex Haley. ;-)

@Blackberry I’m asking about celebrities whose looks are carefully “curated.” Not having the time doesn’t make sense in that context; it’s a deliberate look.

I think it’s trashy looking, but that was the thinking when I grew up. Now maybe it’s changed.

@Blackberry…it must be just men who get one every 2 weeks cuz their hair is usually short. I’d spend a fortune if I got one every 2 weeks! I get one at a minimum of 6–7 weeks.

It’s called shadow roots or blurred roots and blends from natural shade to new shade. Look much better than just letting your roots grow out.

@kruger_d This is one of the looks I’m talking about. i don’t see that as a blend. Another one I’ve noticed it on is the actor who plays Briana in Grace and Frankie.

When they’ve got 5–6 inches of black hair with blond hair from there down, there’s nothing blended about it. When a brunette does it, yes, I can see it blending. But with blond hair, it does look like the roots have grown out. omg I loved Grace and Frankie!!
