Would you prefer to be a prince/princess or a commoner?
Not king or queen – they’re the top of royalty and have certain unavoidable responsibilities.
If you could be a prince or princess – a step or two down from the top level – would you accept the role? How would being in the public eye balance against wealth and status?

Commoner. I would hate having so many people thinking that they had a right to my time and attention.
Depends on the details of country, era, and the duties and privacy, etc.
An militarily aggressive medieval nation? No thanks.
A peaceful/defensive/quiet medieval nation? Yes thanks.
Modern England? No thanks!
Modern Norway, Sweden, Monaco, San Marino? Probably yes.
No privacy and lots of public ceremonies and stuff to do for it? No.
Commoner because being a woman in royalty sounds miserable.
Not to sound like a pick me bitch, but I speak my mind and don’t know when to shut up.
If I got to be princess in name only, sure. But the added responsibilty? Nah.
Only if it came with lots of money. Otherwise I prefer being a commoner.
Being an average Joe is a gift.
I’d be ok with being a princess if I didn’t have too much in terms of obligations and it guaranteed me a certain amount of wealth and safety. I guess being in the public eye can make a person much less safe, but a princess who is not well known probably moves about without being recognized much, especially outside of her own country. I wouldn’t recognize a Spanish or Dutch princess. I don’t mind being recognized and having a brief chat with people as long as being recognized is not every day constantly throughout the day.
It would be annoying to always have to look put together or risk an embarrassing photo if someone does happen to recognize me.
I am comfortable being a commoner and have no aspirations for fame or royal status.
