What crazy theory have you recently heard or read?

Asked by Pandora (32775points) 1 day ago

I read an article about a Pastor from Tennessee who won’t go through the scanners because he says it makes you gay and desire men. So he will go through the pat down instead.

So I wondered what other weird theories have any of you read or heard lately.

My friend’s daughter told me that Neil Armstrong never went to the moon. I’ve heard that there are people who believe this, but here was someone that I was actually face to face with, who was telling me. She had some reasons why. I didn’t say this is cray cray. I said “oh yeah?” and acted like I was interested in hearing her theories.

Ah, reminds me of someone who told me dinosaurs are all made up. And the earth has only been around since the beginning of man. I seriously looked at him like he’s cray cray.

During the Pandemic this lady said she wasn’t getting the shot because it had nano technology and the government could then take over your mind and control you.
I told yeah that’s what they want an over weight ,middle aged truck driver, with bad knees I said yeah I’m a real fucking prize , she wandered off stuttering.

That Trump is tanking the automobile industry, to combat global warming. Without telling his base.

@RedDeerGuy1 That gave me a good laugh. He would have to believe in global warming.

@SQUEEKY2 Oh, I forgot my brother-in-law believed that Bill Gates put tracking chips in them. I told him there was no need because his cell phone already did that. It’s funny how he didn’t give up his cell phone. Mind control. They would have to have a working mind.

@Pandora “So he will go through the pat down instead.”

I’m guessing that it’s not women who do the pat down on a man, so hmmm…I wonder why he really wants a pat down! hahaha

@smudges I thought that too. LOL

^ Yeah, it’s hard to top the insanity coming out of this administration and its flunkies. Where to even begin?

“They’re eating the dogs!”
“They’re eating the cats!”

Trump’s notion of having Canada become the 51st state of the USA.
Trump’s notion of taking over the Panama Canal.
Trump’s notion of taking over Greenland.

And just from one story on Trump’s insane notion of taking over Greenland:

“This is friendliness, not provocation. We’re dealing with a lot of people from Greenland that would like to see something happen with respect to their being properly protected and properly taken care of. They’re calling us. We’re not calling them. And we were invited over there, and I thought it would be great [...]”

The president said that the second lady “loves the concept of Greenland,” calling her “brilliant,” [...]

“But we’ve been invited, and they really like the idea, because they have been somewhat abandoned … they haven’t been taken well, good care of. And I think Greenland is going to be something that maybe is in our future,” Trump said.

“It’s important from the standpoint of international security. And if you look at the ships outside of Greenland, you have Russia, you have China, you have lots of different people and lots of different places, and it cannot go on the way it is. It’s not going to go on the way it is. I’ll make a statement — it’s not going to happen. So they’re going there, and that’s purely friendship,” he said.

When questioned who from Greenland invited the delegation, the president replied, “A lot of people … people from Greenland are asking us to go there. We have many, many requests from many, many people, some officials too.”

That’s Steve Bannon’s “flood the zone with shit” theory. Seems to be working. Each utterance by Trump requires 100 manhours to fix. There are not enough people x hours in a day to keep up.

And here’s a crazy theory that seems to be floating around in east Asia e.g. Japan, Taiwan, and China – there’s supposed to be a huge earthquake brewing, slated to strike in July. But there’s no agreement on where. Each pundit thinks it will be in their country. They can’t all be correct.

Please keep in mind I’m not completely serious, but the whole theory of college sports basically being the modern day plantation.

Because the athletes don’t get paid (i think this changed not sure), majority white coaches, staff, etc are basically using young majority black athletes as a cash cow.

I believe in a couple states, the highest paid state employees are sports coaches….not actual politicians…

It’s a pretty simple concept, that extends further into the NFL, but the argument is always dismissed by angry people saying “but they get paid millions, they’re totally not being taken advantage of!”

That the President of El Salvador is the person controlling if Americans gets released from their concentration camps.

@Zaku
Yes, Greenland “invited” them. And then they could not find a single Greenlander willing to debase themselves for a photo-op, so they cancelled the trip.
