Can you recommend a nice, reasonable hotel in Paris that is well located?

I’m going to Paris for a few days in early June with friends. Looking for hotel suggestions in a nice neighborhood, either on the right or left bank. Montmartre would be preferable but not necessary. Would prefer to hear from people with direct experience – I can do the guidebook/internet search thing myself.
