Did anyone see the Perseids early this AM?

Asked by gailcalled (54647points) August 13th, 2007

Cloudy and overcast all night. I was up most of it; nice cicada and owl noises, however. But no heavenly objects visible; not even Jupiter. Well, the Leonids come in Nov.

We saw a few outside of Albuquerque from 12 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., including a few good long streaks and one that blew like a flash bulb (as if it were headed straight at us). Thanks for letting us know about the event!

Lucky you. Since a few people seem to be interested, I will keep you posted when something interesting is happening up there.

My mum and I laid outside from 10.15 untill 11.30 and I counted 9. I was right by the house though, so the view was 1/2 obstructed. My mum only saw 7 (we were facing different ways). Not bad though, considering the peak time was around 3AM.

No, unfortunately it was way cloudy here. We braved the heat and mosquitoes, but sadly could not see anything.

My son said he saw a few on Monday night, relatively early, with his girlfriend and her family. But I think that would have been the tail end (pun intended) of them. :)
