How can I communicate to McCain my horror and disgust at his and Palin's approach against Obama?

Letter to the editor in NY Times? Letter to his senate office? Something more direct?

By urging everyone you know to vote for Obama on November 4, and by giving Obama every penny you can spare and every moment of your free time you can spare to volunteer for him…that would send about the strongest message you can send to a politician.

Thing about it is, the polls are telling him that people are disgusted by his campaign. Expect to see him disavow this negativity in coming days and try to take the high road. Expect the voters to say, “nice try old man, but too little, too late.”

I personally would go to McCain’s website and leave a respectful, well thought out blog entry enumerating that you respect people’s rights to vote for whomever they feel is the best fit, but for this laundry list of reasons, you have become alarmed and disgusted with the behavior of a man once thought to be honorable. And close with, please for the good of your campaign, your integrity and the entire country, put an end to this tone.

Of course, the fact that on Friday, right here in Minnesota, he told his angry supporters that he worked with Obama, Obama was a good man, and they didn’t need to fear his Presidency. I think he’s gotten the message, but do whatever you think is best!

BY convincing everyone you know to vote for Obama!

@ dale, Your answer came in right before mine. I’m glad we are on the same page.

I think any of the methods you suggested plus communicating via email to his campaign.

Nothing gets across the idea of disgust like a piece of chocolate shaped like a gun. He’s a real busy guy though so you’re going to have to run up and give it to him.

I have no idea what point you’re trying to make, bodyhead, but nonetheless, would this do the trick:

Dale, that’s a funny link.

Possibly my joke was in poor taste. If you run up to a presidential nominee with a gun shaped anything, there can only be one outcome.

Well voting is the only way communication will occur.

I’ve no doubt your written skills are good, but communication requires that a sender delivers an understandable message to a receiver who can comprehend it. The ability of the receiver is the weak link. Forget the words, just vote.

I guess I kind of did get the joke, I just wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be a joke, or if there was something I was missing. I think the chocolate part threw me.

Thanks. Voting, of course. I’m starting to call other voters this Friday. I’ve been giving money. But, I want McCain to hear that he is being actively destructive to the country—since it is possible that Obama will win. (Of course, he has also been destructive to the country choosing Palin as a running mate—but that’s another story.) I appreciate the suggestions—and will send a pithy note to McCain’s campaign site.

skfinkel: I’ve sent more than a few emails to McCain’s campaign. Given the reponse, I’d say again: read my post above.

If action is required another useful tool is to find a proMcCain/Palin board that will let you post. At one site, I just responded to posts that were pro, but not with the religious zeal of many. As I posted my 9th post, I hit the submit button and got a big screen message:
This site no longer exists.
Some comfort there.

If you go to www.therealmccain.com, you can sign an open letter urging them to tamp down on hateful politics, and you can add your own comments.
