How come my iPhone's GPS thing isn't working?

Asked by xxporkxsodaxx (1398points) October 13th, 2008

Every time I use my maps thing and try to locate my position I seem to only get the crosshairs and never the blue dot, yes I have an iPhone 3G and it worked before the 2.1 update but after that nothing but crosshairs, anyone else had/have this problem and/or have a solution for me?

iPhone is unreliable.

I had the same problem, but it eventually fixed itself. I think it happens when the iPhone can’t locate a satellite or something, and instead of actually telling you that it couldn’t find one, it just does nothing.

Yes it needs 2 cell towers, some wifi hotspots and a GPS satellite connection to accurately pinpoint your location. Works best in more populated areas. The GPS chip in the iPhone isn’t so strong yet.
