Possible 2-week jobs?

Asked by Myotyarla (35points) October 17th, 2008

I’ve got a load of holiday at saved up at work, which I now have to use before the end of Feb, and was thinking of taking 2 weeks to try and earn some money, but can’t think of any job that employs people for 2 weeks… can anyone help with ideas?

Right now you might check with the voter registrtion office there is always a big push to register voters this close to the elections. Don’t think it pays a whole lot, but better than nothing.

Around here, everyone is looking for someone to do interior painting, wash windows, put gardens to bed, rake leaves, and general handy-person (a dying breed) chores. If you can use a chain saw, for example, you could easily charge $20/hr. in my neck of the woods (rural eastern New York State.) I would pay someone to wash and vacuum my car, do patch sanding and polyurethaning on hardwood floors, get on a ladder and dust tops of high cabinets and furniture.

basp is right… basically anything having to do with a campaign is a pretty sure shot right now. But that may mean going door-to-door with voter registrations or yard signs… lol.

Do you have places in your neighborhood where day laborers wait for jobs? Line up there early in the morning everyday, you will have the experience of a lifetime.

Or you’ll get deported with the rest of them when they’re unwittingly picked up by INS.

Back in college, I bought a hundred dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts for $1/box and sold them door-to-door for $3/box. Made $200 in just a few hours.

I’m sure prices are different now… but the concept is the same. And if you don’t want to go door-to-door, perhaps there’s a local college where you could get a permit and setup a table in a high traffic courtyard.

Today, the vegans, clad in their kale armor, would overpower you and use the donuts to fuel their smart cars.

Check out your local Craig’s List ‘Gigs’ section for temporary or project work.

Another option is to sign up with a temp agency. That may be a lot of paperwork, testing etc for just a two-week stint, but if you’d be looking for additional work on nights/weekends/holidays in the future, that may also be a way to go.
