just purchase both…or when that’s not an option…well, one’s a friendly cuddly game with a lot of joy and love, the other is basically you decapitating undead spawn. yeah, it’s not exactly the same game…
Do you have kids? The answer might be simpler in this case Little Big Planet.
If you want to be up late nights scarring the crap out of yourself, then you should go with Dead space. Just don’t wake the kids ;)
…is Dead Space the game on TV I see with the slogan “Only the Dead Survive”?
If that’s so, I’d steer clear of that one. Buying a PS3’s pretty misinformed in the first place, but then being turned on by “OH NO NOT ANOTHER SPACE MARINE SCIFI SHOOTER GAME” probably indicates you’re a fan of the redundant.
I am assuming that you are looking to buy ether\or, so, consider these things:
Dead Space is a Horror shooter, meaning you get some guns, run out of ammo, then die a lot, or play on easy and walk through the game like a god. Both can be fun if that is your thing. The big plus is the game is one of those “pick up and blow S*** up games” meaning you can spend one hour a day and beat the thing (sadly) in about a week.
The other is a “do it yourself” game meaning you spend hours, upon hours a day building a level that you can play with friends in the real world or online. It also means you can download other peoples games too and play those. You can spend like an hour (once you get the feel of the game) and build a simple level were you just destroy everything so that can be fun.
It comes down to two things:
1) How much time do you have to put towards playing the game
2) How much you like spending that time playing the game building your own stuff
If you love Halo, Doom, or FarCry more then any other game, buy Dead Space.
If you love Sims, Sims 2, or Boom Blox, more then any other game, buy LittleBigPlanet.
I personally am going to get LittleBigPlanet, I don’t have hours to spend building a level, but I can spend weeks making one, while playing other peoples and my friends levels.
lovelocke, i wish i could be as shallow as you, then i wouldn’t buy all those games, i mean, they always turn out to be excellent games, but it’s a lot of money spent that could have been spent on…oh what am i talking ?, dude, just check out what the game is about instead of complaining, if it was called “dead earth” and played in an underground mining colony would it have made your day ? see, there you go…
LBP really does look to be an enduring classic, where Dead Space is another survival horror on top of the pile. Of I had LBP (and a PS3), I’d probably play that for years.
Wow. I can’t think of 2 more different games to compare. I would say buy LBP and rent Dead Space. Dead Space seems awesome, but how many times are you gonna replay it after beating it? There’s no multiplayer either. So rent it, beat it, return it.
LBP seems like way more of a long-term playing experience. Plus, with the community aspect of it, it will be constantly changing and improving. There will be DLC in the future. It’s just a more enduring type of game.
oh well, i’ll pick up dead space tomorrow, i’m pretty excited, i guess dead space speaks to me more because, well, i’m pretty unsocial online, the only game i really played online was army of two, so yeah, i’d be playing LBP on my own anyway, and the whole point is to play it multi…
just for fun, let’s see how many games i have feature compelling online play…
These games are so wildly on the opposite end of the spectrum its not even funny. But it boils down to this quiz:
1. Do you like horror games? A. Yes B. No
2. Do you like physics based platform games? A. No B. Yes
3. Have you ever HEARD of a physics based platform game? A. No B. Yes

3 A’s, Dead Space
2 A’s or B’s, Both
3 B’s Little Big Planet
I would say given the choice Little Big Planet, it’s real fun, and the community aspect means the game technically will always have new content. More bang for your buck.
