What is the issue with the Koran quote in Little Big World?

Asked by MrItty (17416points) October 20th, 2008

I read that the game is being delayed or recalled because someone found out that one of the songs used for background music in the game contains a quote from the Koran.

Is the game being recalled out of fear that non-Muslims will take offense at another religious text being quoted, or out of fear that Muslims will be offended at the Koran being used for non-religious purposes?

As a related question, is it a taboo in Islam to quote the Koran? Christians quote the Bible all the time, regardless of context…

The answer is “B.” It’s really difficult for me to understand this, and I consider it to be hypersensitivity to religious reference, and suppression of the musician’s expression.

However, I can see how using quotes from a religion’s most holy text to simply add “ethnic flair” and spice to a background track in a video game may not be the most respectful thing in the world.

edit: ALSO, it’s entitled “Little Big Planet
