Okay, listen, I know about Google. Sometime over the past decade it might’ve come up in a conversation or something. I’ve heard of it.
But Google results full of companies that want to take my money and teach me some crackpot hypnosis tricks that don’t really work is not going to help me much. Especially since I don’t have much money to take. But, oh look, this first result is a free mp3 training course! That sounds great! Take my email address? Sure!
It’s the same thing as meditation, except applied in a specific direction. Learn to meditate, or at least relax so your sense of the world falls away, and your focus is on the imagery you think up, and then guide that to go where you want to.
Do what I did, go to the library.
jvgr: Did you find any books that were of particular use?
A long time ago, when I was in grade 8, the writer of the day was Melvin Powers who wrote many books on the subject. Short, easy to understand. My interest was more in self-hypnosis and Project Gutenberg has one of Powers’ books HERE
I did have other books of his. Later on my younger brother read them and began hypnotizing his friends; helping them lose weight, quit smoking…
Apparently, Obama can teach it to you.
@AstroChuck: “Apparently, Obama can teach it to you.”
But only after you have sworn on a stack of Koran’s that Obama is “the one”, learning the philosophy as taught by Wm Ayers and being blessed by Rev. Wright.
You might try googling “Clinical Hypnosis.” That way you’ll get rid of (most of) the quacks. Also search for “Clinical Hypnosis” on Amazon. You’ll be able to find books that actual MDs and psychologists use.
Actually, I got curious about this in the course of my last question as well. I found this book on amazon.com, which has many favorable reviews.
