I have been listening to a lot of analysis of what is to be expected of both candidates. One thing I WONT expect no mater what is a balanced budget. Not right now. Not with what is going on.

Success:
Health care for all who are sick (and preventative health care)
Positive impression of America around the world
Expansion of the middle class
Failure:
Irresponsible spending that hurts the economy
Scandal of some sort that diverts attention from the needs at hand
Misjudgment in an international crisis

I trust Obama much more in ALL these areas than I do McCain

Obama’s plans are more sound minded that MacCain ‘s. I am not an american but basically i wish not to see US tumbles because it will affect my country and the rest of the world as well.

Success
1. Improve the current financial crisis in whatsoever method.
2. Remove terrorism from the world’s agenda. (sounds impossible but i hope). He plans to remove the armies from Iraq and put them in Afghanistan which i feel is a good move because that is where the terrorists are – in Afghnistan-xxxx border.
3. His so-called socialism method to distribute the wealth sounds like a terrific plan to avoid the pooor from getting poorer and the rich from getting richer. I hope he is able to do that, if it works then hopefully other countries with similar problems can do so.

Failed if
None of his plans come into reality. His plans are very ambitious and i don’t expect him to perform right on the spot. If there is gradual improvement to the current situation it should be fine.

At this point success would be a President that can speak English in complete sentences.
Something other than, noun+verb+9/11….

Could anything other than Bush/Republican be anything less than a success? ;)

I will consider it a success if he keeps us out of new wars, winds down our involvement in Iraq, strengthens the foundations of the economy, makes some improvements in health care, increases jobs and decreases unemployment.

I think he will do all that and more.

Any president’s success is highly dependent on congress. Given that congress has a lower rating than Bush why don’t you throw your current senator/representative out of office in the next election and give the next president, whom ever it may be, a fighting chance at success?

The best chance for a democratic president’s success is a democratic congress. If Obama wins, and congressional races go the way they are predicted to go, it’ll be the first time in a long time that we’ll have both.

Success:
Health care reform (coverage for ALL)
Replace “trickle-down” economics with a “bottom-up” approach
Revive hope for Americans and respect in the international community

Failure:
Lying
Attacking some other country willy-nilly

Hmm let’s see.. Obama is wanting to have higher taxes and has not had presidential background. Mccain has a good story behind his life.. If you read up on him i think youll agree. “Here’s a question – ‘Where were you five and a half years ago? Around Christmas, 2002. You’ve had five or six birthdays in that time. My son has grown from a sixth grade child to a high school graduate. Five and a half years is a good chunk of time. About 2,000 days. 2,000 nights of sleep. 6, 000 meals, give or take. John McCain spent this amount of time, from 1967 to 1973, in a North Vietnamese prisoner-of-war camp. When offered early release, he refused it. He considered this offer to be a public relations stunt by his captors, and insisted that those held longer than he should be released first. Did you get that part? He was offered his freedom, and he turned it down. A regimen of beatings and torture began. Do you possess such strength of character? Locked in a filthy cell in a foreign country, would you turn down your own freedom in favor of your fellow man? I submit that’s a quality of character that is rarely found, and for me, this singular act defines John McCain.” -Kevin Ward You can also read more of his letter on a bulletin posted on myspace.

With all due respect for Senator McCain’s service to his country, if he had been anyone else he would have been grounded after he crashed the first, or at least the second plane. He was a pilot and not a military strategist. He graduated at the bottom of his class.
I honor his service, but it did not qualify him to be president, any more than my brother who won a purple heart in Vietnam.
This time I want a SMART President!

lovinglylady85's avatar

Obama is not “Smart”.. thinking that mccain is just like bush is not fair to say.. he may agree with some of the proposals/approaches that hes made but he is his own person.. and deserves a chance along with obama

“We’ve all seen the emails about Obama’s genealogy, his upbringing, his Muslim background, and his church affiliations. Let’s ignore this for a moment. Put it all aside.

Then ask yourself, ‘What qualifies this man to be my president? That he’s a brilliant orator and talks about change?’

CHANGE WHAT?

Friends, I’ll be forthright with you – I believe the American voters who are supporting Barack Obama don’t have a clue what they’re doing, as evidenced by the fact that not one of them – NOT ONE of them I’ve spoken to can spell out his qualifications. Not even the most liberal media can explain why he should be elected. Political experience? Negligible. Foreign relations? Non-existent. Achievements? Name one. Someone who wants to unite the country? If you haven’t read his wife’s thesis from Princeton , look it up on the web. This is who’s lining up to be our next First Lady? The only thing I can glean from Obama’s constant harping about change is that we’re in for a lot of new taxes.” -Kevin Ward (Suwanee, GA.)

Just look at the two campaigns. Who has led and inspired an honorable campaign and a nation and who has sunk to name calling and worse? What has McCain’s campaign inspired? Bigotry and self mutilation even! I’m sure John McCain himself is appalled at the direction his campaign is going and knows that it is an out of control train wreck. If he can’t lead his campaign how can he lead a nation?
Obama, on the other hand, has inspired millions to rise above themselves, not sink to their lowest selves. Obama is brilliant in the way he has been able to empower his campaign and still keep a hold of the wheel. He’s a once in a lifetime leader and the ballot box will prove it on Nov. 4th.

First “Friends, I’ll be forthright with you” does this sound like a parrot of anyone we know?

Obama was smart enough to become the head of Harvard Law. He is smart enough to have sought out opposing opinions his whole life so as to see both sides (not unlike Lincoln) He is smart enough to surround himself with the right people to get the job done as proven by his campaign.
