I did! It just happened like 2 min ago. I was like “oooooh magic!”. btw, aren’t you supposed to be sleeping? :P
edit – oh and i would like to add that i LOVE this feature already.
fluther kept me up as usual, and then i noticed the “magic” as you put it :P
Permalink feature=win
That is pretty nifty, took me a short while to find it, but it’s nicely done. Unobtrusive but very handy :D
I wonder how long it would’ve taken me to notice if you hadn’t mentioned it…
Is it sad that the addition of this feature is the best thing that’s happened to me all day? Thank you, Fluther, for putting something positive in my day, right before bed. Huzzah!
This is my first day on Fluther and I have no idea what Permalink is or where to find it. Could someone give the inside scoop on this? Thank you in advance.
Please forgive my ignorance, but what’s a permalink. I just spent 10 minutes reading the wiki entry and I’m still no wiser. Please tell me what I should be looking for.
I’ve noticed recently that clicking on a link in a thread opens a new browser tab when it didn’t used to. Does it have something to do with this?
@bluefreedom and breedmitch move your mouse to the right of the flag button under any of the responses. You’‘ll see a red ¶ pop up. If you click on it, it will like you to that response. So if you want to refer someone to a specific answer now, you just click on that permalink and then you can simply copy the url from your browser. Where as before you had to figure out the quip number and then add #quip(insert number) to the end of the url.
Cool beans. Thanks, awesome!
Thanks for the information, uberbatman. Have a great weekend.
I saw it! I saw it!
It’s funny, I discovered this nifty little feature before I read the post in the fluther blog, which I tend to read before checking fluther itself…
Oh, this will be so useful. In msn conversations I would link to the question and say “now scroll down to the answer by so-and-so…”
??? It doesn’t work for me. I scrolled all over the place, but I still can’t see it.
@scamp place your mouse over “Great Answer” and you shall be enlightened. Move your mouse to the left and right and you’ll see just which areas will make the icon pop up.
Thanks. I did that, and still nothing. I feel so left out!!!
@scamp hmm, that’s weird. you should be getting it the same as everyone else. i would suggest clearing your browser’s cache.
do you know what you’re looking for? it’s a small orange ¶ character to the right of the “flag as…” link when you have your mouse hovering over this area.
I think it’s a great idea!
But I have gotten pretty good at looking at the code now, so I’m glad you didn’t do it sooner.
Next up, “Back to Top” : )
More coolness on tap: When you click on the “Thank so-and-so” link (in a Question you asked), it now pops up the PM screen with a reference to that quip already built in.
(Dunno about you, but it’s been frustrating to look at old comments and have no idea what was being ref’d. This fixes that… at least for querents thanking contributors.)
@chromaBYTE Thanks for your help, but I still don’t see it. I’ll try again from my home computer and see if I can get it to work there.
@fireside eh theres really no need for a “Back to Top” button when you already have a “Home” button on your keyboard
ooo, new trick that i never thought of. i was just getting a lot of use out of my click scroll
@Awesome: OOOOOOHHHH! That’s what the home button does? I never touched it before (no, really). Thanks. I’m so dumb.
Home! How awesome…and how lame I am for never having figured that one out!
can everyone guess what the end button does? :P
WOW!! seriously, I never pressed either
I’m still forgetting to use it half the time…
Me, too. Old dogs, new tricks you know.
how about pg up(page up) and pg dn(page down) lol
i tried those, now how about the Pause/Break button? heh
ctrl+W is really cool too :P
I love keyboard shortcuts, especially now that my mouse batteries are dying haha. Ctrl+Tab, Ctrl+Shift+Tab, Ctrl+W, Ctrl+T, all very handy :)
