Weekend Box Office numbers?

Asked by queenzboulevard (2553points) October 26th, 2008

I always thought weekend box office earnings were from Friday to Sunday, but I can look on Yahoo! at like 2:00 pm on Sunday and get this weekend’s numbers. Shouldn’t it be Sunday night before they would be posted?

What you see on Yahoo if it is the same as my link, is for last weekend’s totals. Note:
Weekend Box Office Actuals (U.S.)
Oct 17 – 19 weekend

here are the estimates for this weekend.

But shouldn’t they be posted after the day is over and all the numbers are in? It’s still the afternoon on the east coast and morning on the west coast.

They call every night about an hour after the last show starts. At the theater I worked at they would call around 11pm PST to get the days numbers.

The box office numbers you see on Sunday afternoon are estimates, which mean they estimate the Sunday night numbers. On Monday they will post the actual numbers.
