When I listen to a certain CD/Track a lot, the CD/track gets damaged. Why?

Can CD players (In Cars) Damage CD’s? Is it just me? has this happened to anyone else?
This has happened to CD’s that’ I’ve bought from Stores. (not just cheap CD’s that were burnt)
I now backup every CD that I buy…
Some CD’s I buy are not offered as a Digital Download anywhere (that’s why I actually BUY CD’s… for anyone wondering why I even buy CD’s) ...tnx

well, the laser don’t actually touch the “track” so it shouldn’t damage your CD. Maybe it’s something wrong with the CD player. try to get one of those CD player cleaning discs and see if it helps.

A bump in the road can move the cd about in the player, it can then get scratched. Try cleaning it with toothpaste. Works for me. :)

Has this happened multiple times on one machine?
On more than one disk?

If something on the laser, or the mechanism that moves the laser, were damaged it would do damage to the disk.

If more than one disk is damaged, look and see if they are damaged in a similar area, although, that may not be the case as the laser moves as it plays.

Yes it is possible for CD drives to damage disks over time. It’s actually quite common with some Playstation 2s. You get little indents in the same areas on disks (especially DVDs) that you use all the time.

My advice is to copy your favourite CDs to blank discs, so that you keep the original undamaged.
This is legitimate because you are allowed to make 1 backup disk of CDs that you own.
