How do I get my screen to work on my laptop without being able to see anything?

This morning I booted my laptop and the screen remained black. I can't adjust anything or work on it because I can't see anything. I hooked up another monitor to a video out and nothing also. Obviously it's a software issue. Like maybe a driver got lost or somthing. Any suggestions on what to do?

my best suggestion would be to contact an LCD repair shop to have the backlight replaced - should cost $100-150.
btw we have the same laptop
Maybe it's just a loose cable, so you don't have to replace the backlight.
Just open it up by unscrewing some screws (check user manual) and look for any (!) loose cables...
If that doesn't work, then consider buying a new backlight/screen as said above.
HTH, Davey.
Hum, but he said he plugged in another monitor with no luck. Does your laptop happen to have a way to control it from another computer via network? (e.g. VNC, remote desktop, telnet, etc?)
hp hdx is the laptop, had it for a week, brand new
the screen is black when i turn it on
Take the repair cost and use it to buy a mac buddy.
