When wearing a necklace and a collared shirt, where should the necklace be worn?

Asked by jsc3791 (1988points) October 28th, 2008

When wearing a collared shirt with a long, beaded necklace, should one wear it on the skin, inside the shirt? Or should it be worn out side the shirt, under the collar?

Of course your opinion on other variations are welcome…

If the necklace is extremely long….like ending at the chest or abdomen, outside the collar is fine, I think.

Shorter necklaces should be worn “inside” next to the skin…

Depends on the size of the necklace. If it hugs the neck, under the shirt. If it is loose and long, over the shirt.

In your case? Over the shirt.

Rock it ‘82 style, like this gent.

Anything that would create a “what’s that on his/her chest” reaction, when worn inside a shirt should be worn on the outside. This doesn’t necessarily apply to other clothes.

I’m wearing an elegant turtleneck and wearing jewelry on the outside. It depends on the necklace. If its a short and dainty necklace, it usually doesn’t work to be worn outside.

So weird!!! Just last night as I was lying in bed, I thought of this question while I was pondering what to wear today. That is freaky. and so random.

Depends what the necklace looks like inside the top and outside. Some will look better than others.

If you are wearing a long necklace, then you can wear it outside under the collar. But if it is short you may wear it inside.

That would depend on the length of the necklace. Shorter necklaces belong inside the shirt. It just looks better.
