I don’t live on the west coast but I suggest you avoid being typical. That means no movies, and no dinner on the first date. Go where you and your date can interact playfully. Anything that gets you guys to be touchy is also good. Wink Wink. Try an amusement park (you two can sit real close and hold each other on the rides), a regular old park (walk next to each other and talk/play on the swings), or the museum (this way you get to find out if your date has brains). Hope this helps.

I don’t live in Cali either. But I may have a few suggestions

1. Museum/Contemporary Art Gallery – Observe exhibitions, talk about them and other subjects. Lots of walking around, lead to eventual hand holding.

2. Farmers Market/Swap Fair -you go around looking for searching for different finds, same idea as museum a lot of walking and talking

3. Graffiti Art Scavenger hunting – I did this once and it’s fun. But it should be done in a safe area – I live in Toronto which is mostly a safe city. Go and search out walls or alleys with graffiti art. It’s like being in a street gallery.

do something other than your usual dinner & movie.
if you’re both into music and art, find a coffee shop with a live band.
build sandcastles on the beach.
oh, or ride bicycles!

If you start early enough in the day, you can walk around the Crocker Museum and then maybe walk down J Street to the downtown shops and Old Town. A nice place to eat is Rio City in Old Town. You can walk in the shops after. Evangeline’s alone you could easily spend near an hour in. It’s pretty hilarious.

My favorite thing about Sacramento is that there are loads of microbreweries. Another foodie idea is to eat at Sandra Dee’s for some soul food and then maybe walk to Brew It Up for a beer sampler. Tapa the World is a good place to go for a long meal if you just slowly order tapas and talk. I like to walk to Rick’s Dessert Diner after some good eats at Tapa the World, or the place next door, Kasbah Lounge.
