Where will us non-swing-staters be able to watch the 30 minute Obama ad?
I’m dying to know. I’ll probably cry through the whole thing : )

Um. Everyone can watch it the same places. Basically choose your major network and watch. Well, except for ABC.
“The senator from Illinois this month arranged to buy tonight’s 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. slot on CBS, NBC and Spanish-language network Univision. Fox Broadcasting joined the field after Major League Baseball agreed to delay the start time of tonight’s World Series game.”—here
I think the more impressive thing is that he managed to get the MLB to delay the start of the game, than buying all that time. One part takes money. The other part takes cooperation from a lot of people.
I am not sure what the other networks are…but there are 7 total.
At a cost of about $1,000,000 each…..
Oh———- I thought they were only running it in swing areas. Thank you for the clarification!
I am sure it will be online a little later as well for those of us that have no television.
They are not delaying the World Series, just eliminating the pre-game show on tv.
Is it on at 8:00 Eastern time and we all watch at the same time?
Darn! it loos like I’ll have to wait until 8:00 here in California to see it! I hope you all will tell me how great it is!
Judi: If you have cable, it will be on MSNBC at 5 and I think it will be on FOX, too. Just go to the channel that is carrying the baseball game.
The tv is on msnbc right now. I’ll leave it there. Thanks.
oh wait—- so 8 eastern does that mean i DID miss it? Ooops….
So, what’d you all think?
I thought it was good, but too depressing, and not enough to connect the dots…... but I cried of course : ) I really love Obama I must say…....
They’re referring to it on MSNBC as an “infomercial”. I think he dealt with a number of issues.
1. Who is Barack Obama? Well he has a side that makes him just like anyone else, He may be smarter and better educated than a lot of people (the Republicans call that elitist) but he has experienced a lot what the rest of us do. When my students complain about having to work too hard, I’m going to use his mother’s line “It’s no picnic for me either”
2. Obama’s experience-He showed he has an excellent grasp of the problems that are most important to many Americans and how he expects to deal with them. He kept it simple but didn’t go the “just trust me I have a plan” route.
3. Dealing with the character assassinations. There are basically 2 major groups who are against him. the idealogue bitter enders who cannot allow themselves to believe the policies and politicians they have supported since 1980 were totally wrong. The other group is the hearsay voters. Instead of listening to Obama and mainstream journalists, they listen to Limbaugh, O’Reilly the Faux News talking points readers and fringe bloggers. If any of the latter group watched Obama with an open mind, it may not change their votes but it will make them reevaluate their information sources.
Was it well produced-YES. Did it try to touch the emotions?-HELL YES. There was a Spielbergesque flavor to the program. Did anyone expect a professorial lecture with graphs and an attempt to explain the tax code?
That was well produced, touching, but a little too saptastic. I felt it would have been good to have a positive story mixed in as well. Then I watched McPains response to the infomercial with Larry King. That was pathetic.
b, it would be nice to have a positive story in the business section of the daily paper, too, but…
it actually made me teary eyed a couple times :’(
