Would you listen to a Fluther "Radio Show"?

Asked by Lovelocke (1609points) October 30th, 2008

It seems that anytime I’ve made a video and shared it here, it gets flagged/removed… even if it is on topic or relevant: Just because my name is on it, it’s considered spam.

Well, what if I went out of my way to make a “Fluther Radio Show”... a show that’s free to listen to, supports many live listeners at the same time, and even allows us to “take calls” (in this case, “Questions”) that a panel of guests (Different high-rated Fluther Users) pass around in a circle and answer.

The format would be very similar to Loveline, for instance.

Only problem I see: What if the people at Fluther.com aren’t interested in an offshoot project of their website? How important is the name “Fluther” in your decision to listen to a show with the same “Ask us Anything” mentality?

Yes I am serious, we could have this thing going as early as tonight if it turns out there’s enough interest in it.

Dude, you can’t just tack on the name of another company to get viewers from there.
If you’re getting modded for sharing your stuff, I’m thinking they wouldn’t be too happy
about you jacking their name either.

I am a radio fanatic and would listen for shits and grins. I’d contribute as well…

Probably not.
It’d be weird.
On fluther, you can post links citing stuff and I’ve noticed a lot of threads have led to me going to google and further researching something and learning a lot.
I think the radio thing just sounds a bit goofy.

Yeah, make it a Podcast. Get it on iTunes. I’d listen. I’d even participate

When I have a desire to listen to Fluther, I copy the text and paste it in here

Your question sounded pretty funny with a Korean accent.

@fireside thanks for that, im going to go kill some time making it say funny things like “im a dirty pirate hooker”

I had a podcast on iTunes for awhile, but stopped when all of my buddies moved away/sold their equipment for weed. Yes I know the name “Fluther” doesn’t belong to me, hence the question “How important is the name fluther in your decision to listen”?

…also, @ Fireside

MY GOD! COMEDY GOLDMINE!

Actually… no. I would probably download them, but i would never take the time to actually listen to them.

@fireside its so much hotter coming from the russian girl :P

No, I wouldn’t. It would have to be made by Ben and Andrew to be a great show.

I have so much free time I will do just about anything. Shit, I read this crap everyday.

Yes, there are such things as conservative furries…

@john: that link is terrifying

I probably wouldn’t, because it wouldn’t be interactive. I think that’s the big draw for me…the ability to participate, in real time.

Count me in, too!

shadling21's avatar

Nah.

I don’t listen to enough radio as it is.

@Augustian – In the description, I wrote “Well, what if I went out of my way to make a “Fluther Radio Show”... a show that’s free to listen to, supports many live listeners at the same time, and even allows us to “take calls” (in this case, “Questions”) that a panel of guests (Different high-rated Fluther Users) pass around in a circle and answer.”

Heh.

augustlan's avatar

I mean, all of us could participate…

Lovelocke's avatar

You could… but in an ordered fashion. 200–300 voices chiming off at once isn’t so much “participation” as it is “noise”.

wundayatta's avatar

I don’t mind hearing myself talk. (yeah, like anyone couldn’t tell!)

Goodness, no. You’d be locked into listening for as long as somebody wanted to go on, instead of being able to just skip around to another page. I like the self-selecting aspect of fluther and wouldn’t want my attention to be held hostage by somebody else’s notion of what’s interesting or important.
